A sneak preview of the latest Hayley Records single that is about to be unleashed on the soul world in the next few days.

JJ BARNES '(That's the price) I'll have to pay.' c/w SAN REMO GOLDEN STRINGS (That's the price) I'll have to pay. HR 035

A newly discovered and previously unreleased 1966 RIC TIC session that produced three versions of the song - the two here and JUANITA WILLIAMS interpretation. (Scheduled to be a future Hayley Records release.) JJ BARNES version also features a 'ghost vocal', barely audible in the background, purported to be songwriter ROSE MARIE McCOY testifyin' over JJ's vocal. Interestingly, the song was also the inspiration for AL KENT's 'You've got to pay the price' that became a bit hit in 1967.

The photograph shows producer ANDRE WILLIAMS with JJ BARNES rehearsing for the session.
