Gene Yarbrough - The Meeting Place part 1 & 2 (Jerma) Mint- £100
I am inundated with enquiries every time I list this, and what copies there were have dried up completely. It’s last Discogs sale was £100 and have seen at £150 recently, testimony to how demand has grown and grown in the few months since I listed the first copy where it was virtually unknown. The A Side has a couple of YouTube entries, but demand is all about the flip ‘part 2’ which has only recently been added courtesy of @BarrieWaddington aka @A45Heaven (who’s no bad judge of a 45 given he was responsible for discovering many of Stafford’s finest plays and plenty more before and after). A killer 45 IMHO and one that has yet to reach its peak price IMHO.
The Four - Good Thing Going (Nashville North) Ex £150
Stupidly rare garage soul stormer that’s had plays on Europe and at more progressive venues in recent times, already started to cross over to the wider northern scene having had plays at Dark Horses and elsewhere. This one won’t stay at this price for long last one I had went privately to a top DJ. Don’t sleep.
Michael Burkes And The Contrasts - Can’t Fight The Feeling (SMS) Mint- £75
Hypnotic funk edged dancer from the label that gave us Papa Bear and The Cubs! Arguably rarer given the few copies to have surfaced and clearly lesser known. Only the one somewhat hidden YouTube clip for this. Has sold for significantly more than this too!
