Continuing to thin the sales box, and the good thing is there’s not a bad tune amongst them, it’s just time to go! All worth a look and listen (YouTube) and many under book price…..

Happy to send sound files or more images, noting the blue labels look a bit gloomy, when actually they are bright. PM any questions or to reserve.

ZZ Hill – Ain’t too proud to beg – Audrey 224 WD Ex+ £40

(Fantastic cover of one of Jobete’s most famous outputs, on a lovely hard to find white demo)

IMG_E9755.JPG

Elliott Small – Stay in my heart – Bang 570 M- £20

(Great little dancer, on what appears to be the national release following ‘Grandpa Elliotts’ local release on NOLAs New Sound Label. Heavily influenced by the ‘Big Q’ Wardell Quezergue)

IMG_E9740.JPG

Falcons – (I’m a fool) I must love you – Big Wheel 321 Ex £45

(Sublime mid-tempo Detroit, that will never ever fall from grace)

IMG_E9743.JPG

Leon Haywood – Consider The Source – Capitol 2584 M- £40

(Crossover excellence, everyone should have one)

IMG_E9744.JPG

Mill Evans – Got to have your love – Constellation 170 Ex+ £45

(Another class track on this awesome label, super soulful delivery, a real catchy dancer, not many beat this free-flowing style of Northern, like Bobby Garrett - My little girl, Johnny Wyatt - This thing called love, Shep - Fool to fool)

IMG_E9745.JPG

Dramatics – Toy soldier – Crackerjack 4015 M- £150

(Fabulous early group dancer from the first Detroit group to use the name, Harry Lee Gates on lead vocals, some stunning backing and harmonies in this punchy mover leased to the Sue Records dynasty)

IMG_E9749.JPG

Candy & Kisses – Someone out there / Chains of love – Decca 32415 Ex+ £20

(Prominent Northern girl group with yet another classic double sider. Slight wear to labels, drill hole)

IMG_E9742.JPG

Knights & Arthur – Lovin’ you baby – Landa 2 Ex £20

(Catchy under the radar male group dancer, brilliant harmonies and backing, Kenny Gamble on the credits. Bit of wear around spindle hole)

IMG_E9737.JPG

Formations – Lonely voice of love – MGM 13963 M- £30

(Now they’ve got to the ‘Top pf the stairs’ and looking back down over the balcony, they deliver an atmospheric expression of sorrowful Soul. Ignoring the melodramatic harp intro, the lead vocalist Jerry Adkins excels on a strong beat. Household names Gamble and Huff, and Johnny Madara credited on this beauty. Lovely MGM gold and blue stock copy, not common at all for this release, never sold on DISCOGs)

IMG_E9753.JPG

Mitch Ryder – You get your kicks – New Voice 830 M- £15

(Every car journey I make this is my pull away play, monster intro and foot to the floor pounder. Light edge lift, but plays through no problems at all)

IMG_E9750.JPG

Walter Jackson – I’ll keep on trying – Okeh 7229 WD M- £25

(This bloke had the lot, awesome artist delivering a faster than other releases dancer. Lovely condition)

IMG_E9752.JPG

Bronzettes – Hot spot – Parkway 929 WD Ex £75

(Brilliant up-tempo girl group dancer with a stunning horn break and energetic girly backing. Not often seen for sale, stock copies nearly impossible, and this West Coast twin shields design the rarer demo format. Couple of light marks and pronounced edge lift does not affect play of Ex+/M- both sides. Priced accordingly, East Coast demos sell for £100-125)

IMG_E9747.JPG

Flirtations – How can you tell me / Someone out there – Parrott 40028 Promo Ex+ £30

(Class, class, class, 2 fantastic sides and after all these years the group and their songs appear right up there on my best of the best list. Minor edge lift does not affect play)

IMG_E9751.JPG

Trade Martin – Work song – RCA 8926 M- £100

(R&B influenced dancer, that I have always considered to be a supercharged answer to Sam Cookes – Chain gang. Beautiful black stock copy)

IMG_E9736.JPG

Sonji Clay – I can’t wait (until I see my baby’s face) – Songee 1002 Ex £40

(A tune that’s been covered a few times that’s for sure, but what a tune and Sonji does a grand job with her subtle crossover take)

IMG_E9746.JPG

Marvelettes – Too many fish in the sea – Tamla 54105 WD Ex+ £30

(Stereotypical but equally brilliant Motown girl group sound on a rarer twin globes demo. Another duplicate. XOL)

IMG_E9741.JPG

Virgil Henry – You ain’t saying nothing new – Tamla 54212F M- £120

(Crossover brilliance, coupled with a great flip side “Can’t believe you’re really leaving”, etched ‘Lenny’ pressing, minor ageing stain on spindle hole edge)

IMG_E9182.JPG

Bobby Paris – Per-so-nal-ly – Tetragrammaton 1504 Ex+ £30

(Northen anthem, rich gritty vocals and pulsating horn section make this a up and at em’ dancer)

IMG_E9739.JPG

George Jackson – I found what I wanted – Verve 10658 E+ £65

(Such an understated crossover track, cultured and catchy dancer)

IMG_E8031.JPG

Darrow Fletcher – Changing by the minute – Uni 55244 Ex £20

(Brilliant, but perhaps under the radar, dancer, which I’ve sold for double in the past. Feint Number on label)
