It’s hard, but letting some juicy non-sales box stuff go to fund a ‘worldie’ want!
Happy to send more images and sound files if needed. PM me to ask any questions or to reserve.
Volumes – That same old feeling / The trouble I’ve seen – Impact 1017 M- £275
(Double header and Detroit perfection, 2 absolutely excruciatingly good dancers, set at differing paces. Beautiful red stock copy in top condition)
Sammy King – Your old stand by / She’s moody with her love – Marathon 101 Ex £850
(I’ve only ever had 2 copies in 40 years, and its unlikely I’ll see one again. 2 stunning slabs of New Orleans smooth soul. I don’t have a preference, both sides are fantastic mid-tempos. Reputedly realted to Tommy Ridgely - My love is getting stronger fame. Priced below John Manships auction of a copy in April, accounting for a couple of light marks that don’t affect play. One label slightly off centre)
Dee Dee Warwick – Worth every tear I cry – Mercury 909 M- £350
(No US 45 release of this powerhouse Northern dancer. In lovely condition with centre intact)
Otis Brown – Somebody help me – Lujuna 10655 M- £125
(Chicago mid-tempo, how classy is this, guess the ‘Soulettes’ version was spawned from Otis’s work. Comes in the sliver label format, which is not as common as the Pink label release)
Tommy Tate – I’m taking on pain – Okeh 7242 WD M- £175
(Beat ballad personified. What a beast of a track. In fabulous condition)
Billy Butler – Right track – Okeh 7245 WD M- £175
(One of the most recognisable intros around. What a dance floor monster, built for purpose and meant to last. 2 stamps on label)
Apollas – Mr. Creator – Warner Brothers 5893 WD M- £150
(Beautiful copy of this classic female group dancer, top drawer Norther Soul)
