Prince Charles and The Royal Tones – What I Live For/Fair Weather Friend (ONYX) Ex £100
This really epitomises the garage soul sound that’s growing day by day and there are a fair number of DJs getting behind this one finally (my last four copies all went to DJs). Banging garage soul that should be massive. Been hitting £150 on Discogs, and this is my first copy for over a year. Flip is great too!
R.C & Joanne Holmes - Sweet Evil Empress Of Love (Ozarks) Vg (plays strong Vg+) £100
Somewhere at the intersection of wild hillbilly and R&B sits this incredible obscurity. Sounds like they stole the backing of Fortune Teller and gave it their own very unique take! I cannot get this record out of my head and one play will tell you why, totally infectious R&B that sounds so right for now. Been hitting £150+ on eBay so here’s an opportunity to grab a bargain!
Bobby Clanton, Soul Vendors - Letter Of Soul (Cyclone) Ex £125
By far my favourite of what is an exceptionally good line up of 45s for sake here. Killer drums, Texas fuzz, great vocals - what more do you want? Virtually unknown in our circles (and outside them i would wager), rare one too, only my second ever copy and the other went to a very well known DJ!
