April 16, 200718 yr We discussed the laser turntable some time ago. I'll make the same point as I made then. This technology was invented by a British company. Sometime in the 80s they sold the patent to a Japanese company at which time they hadn't neen able to solve the problem of how to deal with dirt in the grooves. The fact of the mastter is that a stylus 'cleans' the record as it plays, effevtively sweeping the dirt out if the grooves. The specs for the laser player show that that problem has not been solved and that the' solution' is to play clean records. Records cleaned at a cost of $500 by using a Record Vacuum cleaner. No solution to me. But I suppose for the rich it's another toy. Edited April 16, 200718 yr by Billy Freemantle
