April 17, 200718 yr very typical. I know one seller (who recently sold the topics on dream) grades every single record VG, never vg- or vg+. I've seen most of his stock, and VG is very optimistic for 90% of the records he gets. I've also seen us sellers saying the record is VG-, or "British VG". Do most British buyers consider a pretty scratchy/scuffy record VG if it plays well?
April 17, 200718 yr Some of the US sellers do take the p**s Bought a Ruby Andrews around 2 year ago, description NICE VG+ plays great, no picture either, when it arrived I thought someone had gone over it with a fn**kin lawnmower it was awful, and the shite would not offer a refund, so always read there refund policies before deciding to bid & do not get caught out like me, these dealers do spoil it for all the decent US sellers, who grade in detail and offer refunds if not completely happy. PS not realy had a problem with the UK sellers when it comes to grades usualy spot on
April 17, 200718 yr There's 5 types of VG. USA Goldmine standard VG is equivalent to our EX, usually a lovely copy. UK Record Collector VG is just below US Goldmine VG. UK Northern Soul VG is a well used record, it'll be typically covered in marks due to not being kept in a sleeve but will play well. US non-Goldmine VG is the same as this. UK Reggae VG is below it's equivalent in UK Northern Soul gradings, more like a G+. Confused?
