HI there,

Went last sunday on to some flea markets over here. Bought some books and just one record: BB King - The Jungle LP on United Records.

On the back cover, it has a big listing of other LPs on the label, and some little covers. Its mainly (real good) R&B: Elmore James, ZZ Hill, Ike & Tina, Jimmy Smith. It looked amazing, but after a quick search on the net, I couldn't find anything about this LA based Label. So:

can anyone give me some info 'bout it, a price for the BB LP and, if possible, explain to me how did it ended in a mexican flea market going for 2 quid?

Cheers,

Dante

United was a budget / reissue label, a division of kent / modern. The sort of thing I actually expect to find in a flea market. See:

https://www.bsnpubs.com/modern/united.html

This album was originally released on US Kent in 1967, with a slightly different cover. By the way, that's Arthur Adams on said cover - B.B. had left Kent some years earlier, and the label owners had no new pix of B.B. to use, so they shot Arthur, in profile and in a hammock, and used him instead.

Coincidentally Ace has just reissued this album on CD, in our 'Hip Pocket' series and in a facsimile of the original US Kent cover, It came out three days ago!!!!!
