I have some sad news about Derek Marriott.

He passed away on the 11^th August 208. His funeral was yesterday. At the end of the ceremony Soul Man was played.

It was a very sad day for me, having known Derek for years. I first met Him when I used to DJ around Crewe & Derek was the star of the dance floor when I played Northern Soul.

A framed display He had made of His old Casino & wheel tickets along with his old membership cards was displayed.

I will miss Him.

I can't believe that of all the views on this page nobody has commented about Derek.

My brother and I ran the Thursday night soul sessions at Dane Bank College from 1967-1970 where Derek was a regular attendee along with another recently deceased dancer, Ian Cadman (Caddy).

Derek was without any equal on the dance and even the girls in the cages used to stop dancing and watch a genius at work.

We were close friends even after I had relocated to Teesside and we met up for a night at The Top Deck in Redcar, following Derek's attendance at a match between M'boro and Wolves.
