  5. The Independent Label Market (ILM) will return to London this summer, marking its tenth anniversary on 10th July 2021 at Coal Drops Yard, King's Cross. Founded in 2011 out of Soho's Berwick Street market, the organisation has since expanded to events across the world, forging close ties to more than 600 imprints in the process. The UK capital's 2020 edition was cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. After 68 events supporting 600+ independent record labels from all over the globe, ILM is celebrating its 10 Years Anniversary, and 30th #ILMLONDON edition, at Coal Drops Yard on 10th July! As usual, the finest indie labels in the land will be selling limited editions, vinyl rarities and test pressings as well as exclusive label and band merchandise. This summer event will be impeccably soundtracked by curated DJ sets from artists and labels taking part on the day. And it wouldn't be a proper summer bash without our pals from London Brewers' Market pouring you pints of locally brewed beers

  25. A new cd release (CDKEND # 500 no less) from Kent Records. Titled Moderinity this mod styled compilation is available out and about right now Details follow below Modernity - Various Artists - Kent Records CD Compilers Ady Croasdell & Dean Rudland’s third CD collection spotlighting the sort of R&B and club soul the original 60s mods could have been danced to – if only they’d had the chance. CDKEND 500 Kent Records Format: Audio CD Release Date 30 April 2021 Release notes A preview clip of the release notes follows below Back in Los Angeles where future collectibles such as ‘Drop That Gun’ by Teddy Reynolds and ‘Monkey Walk’ by the Kingsmen were being pressed. From the same city comes the topical 1962 sound of ‘Air Travel’ by Ray & Bob, as covered in the UK by the young Chris Farlowe; the Fashionettes’ ‘Earthquake’, which spotlights the girl group sound, so symbolic of the 60s; and Jackie Lee’s ‘The Bounce’, which conjures up images of shimmering discotheque lights and go-go dancers strutting their stuff. Feminine jazz vocals come from Byrdie Green, who in 1967 made Ma Rainey’s ‘See See Rider’ a happening sound. ‘Sundown’ by the Merced Blue Notes has a similarly cool jazz vibe and session instrumentalists the Birds Of Paradise do a seamless job on ‘Bossa Blue Port’. For Fame completists searching for the slick R&B sound of ‘Go Away With Me’ by Hollis Dixon, we’ve jumped the gun and included it here, while Stax specialists will no doubt be pleased to get their ears on the southern funk of Eddie Kirk’s ‘The Hawg’.
