  1. Here is one outa my Cleethorpes Pier Box of Trix you Never hear these days, The single and the album hard to come by and what an intro that calls you onto the dance floor, Funky Northern at it's best, ENJOY
  2. Pleased you like it, obscure but not rare and on the plus side not expensive.Try to post the not so obvious when i can, more interesting, could do with re-activating me thinks.
  3. Heres one that i heard John Peel play on his Radio Show back in 1981 and promptly bought and covered it up as the Carstairs and it took off straight away, soon uncovered though lol , great days but old Peely new a thing or two, remember him playing Eddie And Ernie track on his show too
  4. This is a record you NEED to play ALL the way through to appreciate it, SOUL MUSIC at its best. kicking off today with a corker, not a dry eye in the the house you understand
  5. One of my favourite 6Ts records would be be well up there in my top 20, can't play this one enough. This is the *Mighty Joe Young* Suffering Soul on WEBCOR Records (USA) Crank up the volume sit back and enjoy
  6. Hi there Jonathan,Yea i'm not bad thank you, funny how these things are kicking around yet we don't catch them for some reason although they are getting played (some where), Funny old game this record collecting malarkey, but don't you just love it !
  7. Thanks ever so much for that, it answers all the questions and have to say yes, it was a time when instrumentals were at their peek, the vocal of the demo i can live with but still love the instrumental to this day and have to say I find the spoken intro vocal version to be a bit too messy for my ears, but every one to their own, different strokes for different folks
  8. Hi Jonathan, and the issue copy with spoken intro is a different Version/Take/Recording judging by the YouTube music vidios that are up there to the demo copy i play, right??
  9. Here is one for you i played as a new release back in the day and still do as an alternative to the wonderful Bionic Boogie AKA Luther....... ENJOY
  10. Well i did wonder about this version as the first time the spoken intro came to my ears was back in March this year when my friend and fellow DJ (Dicko) played this at one our Heslam Park Rugby Club Modern Nites, I had to ask what it was because it sounded familiar but could not at the time put my finger on it so i went up and asked him what it was, he told me it was Diane Jenkins and he said 'You used to play it at the Cleethorpe's Pier All Niters' i replied yes i did but it sounded nothing like that ! I looked at his copy and it was identical to mine on looking at it but i then said well, it's a completely different recording to mine ? I used to go to the Blackpool Mecca but can't recollect hearing the spoken intro version. Now bearing in mind i used to play the Instrumental side at the Pier and left the other Gleggy DJ's to play the vocal side I decided to dig my Demo Copy out and have a squint and a listen and It is looking like the 2 different versions bear the same record numbers 12006-A and 12006-B respectively (is that correct?) On the run out surrounding the label on my none intro copy the numbers are as stated above with an additional number neatly scratched in, that being a small TR with a circle around it and next to that, CR 12/74 which leads me to think that means Dec. 1974 Discogs has it as 1975. This is just guess work on my part. As there are some of you that have the spoken intro versions any chance you can have a look and see if the additional letters and numbers differ to mine as to tell which version you are getting when chasing one up. This is a bit like the Curtis 'How can i tell her' one with the bongs and one without although i think there was a slight label variation on that one but not with the Diane Jenkins track, very interested to see if there is a way of telling.
  11. Agree Martin, there are a lot better Cheap records out there than some of the so called big ticket numbers and credit to you, play what you like, what your inner self tells you, if you get a good reaction all the better, a nice feel good record that puts a smile on your face
  12. Hi Steve, i would not want to Steal someone else's Thunder on that one one as those venues don't spring to mind (and the memory not that great these days) as i have 66 miles on the Clock, so maybe some one else played them at those particular locations, nice that you mention 'Get Out' another of my all time Favs from that era, we were spoilt back then as there were a wealth of great records being discovered and played back then on a daily bases, the constant turn over of great records was unbelevable at the time.
  13. Good Morning Chris, Yes correct on the date as you would be well aware how short lived the Pier was at the time, but we had a great Two Year+ run and i have very fond memories of the place and miss it greatly as i do The Winter Gardens, Two Iconic Soul Venues. At the time i was playing all over the country with my good friend and fellow DJ Chris Dalton( from Lincoln) at the time, so it would have got many spins along the way, It was quite a big record at that time with its quirky beat and those breaks for the spins and hand claps but like a lot of records got over shadowed by the Next Big Thing which in those day were in abundance, but a very nice record all the same.
  14. As Martin57 said he thought it was played at the Pier and he was correct on that as i was the Guilty One, I played it from new release at The Friendship Inn (Keadby) and at Scunthorpes "Soul Scene" (Lindum St.) and others venues up to playing it at the Pier. Was on a few Mailing Lists at the time receiving Demos of President and related label Demos, stuff like Jay Boy and Bull Dog and UK obscure Soul and Reggae Stuff ( A mixture of U.K., U.S. and Jamaican recordings) during the 90's also received a lot of promo 12" singles from the likes of Acid Jazz etc and have often wondered what happened to Mailing lists, do they just cater to the Elite Club DJs theses days?.
  15. Well the weekends here so a Saturday morning offering from my collection, a record based around James Bountys ' Prove yourself a lady', Some will love it, some won't,Enjoy
  16. Yea, True, Great Site and some very nice people who i shall probably never ever meet (bit like an extended Family) and so knowledgable, love it.
  17. I hope you find one, so good, sounds great out on a big system and one that always gets the "Chin Scratchers" up to the decks with a look of disbelief on there faces but hey, that's what is so great about the wealth of great music out there which is still relatively unknown to most (but not all)
  18. Your welcome, not a big ticket number but a fine example of some fine instrumentation and not easy to come by
  19. Have put this one on another thread but thought why not include it here, this was and still is an alturnative spin outta my record box to jobell and the Orchestra de Salsa - Never Gonna Let You Go, Hope you enjoy.
  20. Used to love playing the Jobel orchestra back in the Day at the Cleethorpes - Dayers And Niters and beyond BUT, does anyone remember this one from 1970, Yes 6 years earlier Love it! Enjoy, Rick
  21. John manship has one of these up on MusicStack for £16. 20p
  22. Pretty sure mine came out of a "soul pack" in the 70s (one of soul bowls i think)
  23. Cheers Pete, That's nice to know.
  24. Thanks Chalky for that, should answer a few of the questions being asked.
  25. I bought my copy of the 8 track EP at the time for the Leonie track Silly Love Games which was an un-issued Modern Soul track, and it must have been quite ltd. as it soon disappeared, and like all the other stuff on the label not re pressed.
