Just a slight change in personnel...unfortunately Tom can't make it...and to say he's gutted is an understatement. He has a badly sprained ankle and it's totally out of the question to travel all the way up from Rugby in Friday night summer holiday traffic.. and hobble about behind a set of decks for an hour !! in agony We WILL invite Tom back in the near future and we are very much looking forward to it...and you can take that 'to the bank' as Shalimar would say.... From us ALL at Silktown get well soon Tom !!! I dont need to explain when you fill Blackpool Tower ballrooms dancefloor...you've hit the motherlode.....you've 'beasted' it. .no really they aint much more that you can do to capture the crowds interest..apart from maybe giving a rendition of nessum dorma in full Pavarotti Tenor mode............we'll skip on that in Macclesfield though !!! So as you can see....there will be NO compromise...same 'Full on Northern Soul for the dancefloor' for a crowd who expect it !!! Enjoy !!!!

Just a polite reminder... you may have noticed from the flyer...that we are starting the music at 7.30pm and not the customary 7pm start. The Friday teatime/end of working week traffic has made it increasingly difficult to keep to time...and dont get me started on roadworks ffs !!! HOWEVER the bar will open at 7pm so you can meet and greet other people in the spacious bar area whilst we finish setting up Those of you who have arrived early in the past will have noticed we are busy ,feverishly trying to get everything set up to how we all want it and its always a race against the clock Thanks for your consideration and understanding

The second of our 'mini profiles' of our two fantastic guest DJ's. Another highly anticipated visitor to our Silktown get together. His enthusiasm is infectious for both the sounds and getting 'out on that floor' !!! over to you mate !! Silktown Soul welcomes Jake Robson Hi I’m Jake, I first got introduced to the scene when I was about 15 and started off by going to scooter rallies on the back of my dad’s Vespa and was instantly hooked. I only really seriously started collecting records a few years ago and was more interested in R&B. I then ran a couple soul nights and a scooter rally back home in The Lake District, but after moving to Manchester and being exposed to the all-nighter scene I’ve started collecting a lot more soul and have found a new love of modern soul. I’ve had the chance to DJ at events such as Scarborough mod weekender, sharpen up all dayer, pneumonia club and room at the top. Im currently in the middle of promoting my own night (Trackside Soul Club) in Manchesters legendary venue “The Star and Garter”. Which will be taking place 6th September. My favourite tracks to play out at the moment are: Detroit Soul - All of my life James Kelly Duhon - Pusher Man The Montclair’s - Hung up on your love See you on the dance floor!

The first of our 'mini profiles' of our two fantastic guest DJ's. A welcome visitor to our Silktown get together and one to surely set the floor buzzing !!! Silktown Soul welcomes Tom Page Hi Really looking forward to being up in Silktown next Friday - looking forward to a great crowd and proper music heads. I’ve scaled back on DJing a bit lately, but I still love getting behind the decks when the time's right. Originally from down south and now based in the Midlands, I’ve been collecting and playing records for years, with a deep love for soul in all its forms. Expect a crate full of 60s realness, all with that raw energy and emotional punch that keeps me hooked.

We are excited to welcome 2 guest DJ's who we know take 'no prisoners' when it comes to dancefloor reaction First up we have Jake Robson...one of the 'new breed' of DJ's who are currently having such an impact on the scene. Jake has DJ'd at the stupidly successful Room at the Top promotions slap bang in Manchester City Centre...Jake is also a familiar face here at Silktown...and has got 'our vibe' down to a tee!! When he's not DJing he's dancing...say no more !!!! Secondly we are pleased to welcome Tom Page..Tom Romark on here. Again Tom is a resident DJ along with other nationwide appearances...Those of you who dabble in the 'all-nighter' scene will undoubtedly have heard Tom in action at one of the most popular nighters in the land Rugby Benn Hall All nighters To fill a massive dancefloor like that everytime is testament to his awareness of 'the dancefloor' We are really excited at having these two 'on the decks'...this 'package' is a surefire dancefloor pleaser !!!! Full on Northern Soul for the dancefloor.....thats the brief .....lets get on it !!!!

Now on Cheshires Silk FM further promoting and reaching a wider audience...this is shaping up to be a cracker !! with guest DJ's who have a solid focus on the floor !!!

Just a few 'housekeeping notes and polite requests Can we ask that if you really need to use talc...can it be kept to a bare minimum and not sprayed liberally over the floor area..it really is a nuisance for the staff tending the floor afterwards Can we also ask if anyone wants to video the dancers can they please refrain..its important that we protect peoples privacy Can we also ask that you don't consume drinks etc not purchased from the bar..it has been brought to our attention that empty bottles/cans have been found that haven't been purchased from the venue. Your co-operation in these matters is greatly appreciated

Under a fortnight to go....and just a reminder that 'Here comes the Judge' !! THAT dancefloor !!! A continuation of the super successful mindset adopted over 6yrs of the Macc Soul Club before us. Its an easy measure of success...adopting a KISS principle Keep it simple stupid !!!! Not for us playing records trying to impress the old men in the dark corners , stroking their chins and and debating ad infinitum the merits of each record !!! We endeavour to put on a night out...not create a discussion group !!! The best feedback for anyone is immediate and under your feet....easy innit !!! Keep it simple stupid...and remember who the judge is

Whether you're an occasional head nodder, an ardent toe tapper or an enthusiastic dancer... This event is for YOU !! your safe space !!!

Dont forget the Travelodge in the town centre...are quite reasonable if anyone fancies stopping over...10 mins from venue

AS you all know we have a simple mantra here at Silktown ..we dont believe in overcomplicating matters to score points or 'be different' Its a formula we believe in....and will pursue relentlessly Provide good music aimed at the dancefloor...end of !!! and enjoy what you're doing. Floor focussed DJ's are a pre -requisite...not the ones who spend half the set with their head in their box !! We dont wanna see your 'derriere' ....cute as it may be :-) Enjoy the simple ambiance that good music aimed at the dancefloor provides It goes without saying.. Yes... we have a large free car park adjacent Yes ... there is a well stocked bar and Yes ...the DJ's are extremely good looking
