  1. Timmion website suggests not to bother putting an MP3 on an acetate as the file is compressed. If I only have an MP3 and the track is not on CD do I have any options to convert the MP3 to another format that kind of 'uncompresses' it? Sorry - I don't really k now what I'm talking about here Cheers Richard
  2. And the equipment is OK too I guess? Cheers Richard
  3. Cheers guys Is there anything about a new Timmion metal acetate that means there are limitations on how it can be played - e.g. equipment-wise, or numbers of times? Or can it be treated just like a normal vinyl/styrene record? Cheers Richard
  4. Hi everyone Two topics it would be good to get some feedback on please: 1) How does one go about getting a carver cut? For instance, where can you get this done; can you get one done from a CD or MP3; how many copies do you need to do (can you get just the one); how much does it cost? 2) Are there any 'ethical' issues relating to carvers? Thank you Cheers Richard

  10. Wilxy There's a thread on here about the Detroit or otherwise credentials of Luther Ingram. I think I started it. I think we decided it counted as Detroit (or Detroit connected enough). Have a search. Cheers Richard
  11. Hi everyone I have for sale a very nice copy of Master Force - Hey Girl/Don't Fight The Feeling (Rain Forest 001). This is the 7 inch release. I am taking OFFERS on this one please. SOLD - THANKS It's a superb modern double-sider I think most would grade it as excellent condition - I will call it VG+ to be on the safe side (any marks are from storage and not play). It's a great copy. MP3 sound files of both sides are attached. These are just recorded straight to my laptop from an ION USB turntable without any kind of adjustment. The record labels are clean and scans of both sides are also attached. Recorded delivery in the UK is £2.50. Payment by PayPal as a 'gift' please. Please note I offer a full refund if for any reason you aren't happy with your purchase. If you are interested in making an offer please just PM me. Cheers Richard Click on the pictures to see them full size temp1 733.mp3 temp1 734.mp3

  14. Hi everyone What are your TOP 5 classic club sounds? By 'club sound' I guess I mean the kind of thing that got played at youth clubs and old school minor soul venues (at a time when the rare stuff got played at the bigger established venues). I don't mean - yeah we play the CODs on Kellmac at our local club These records may be the same as some of the first sounds your heard that turned you onto proper Northern and rare soul in the first place. For me this was the type of sound I heard as a youth that made me realise there was something beyond Motown - and that something was so, sooooo much better I guess, off the top of my head, my 5 classic club sounds would be: Jamo Thomas - I Spy (For The FBI) (Thomas) J.J. Barnes - Please Let Me In (Ric-Tic) Willie Tee - Walking Up A One Way Street (Nola/Atlantic) Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart (Revilot) Gene Chandler - Mr Big Shot (Constellation) Would love to hear yours - so please post 'em up folks! Cheers Richard
  15. It's different that for sure mate Cheers Richard

  17. Anyone got scans of the different Stateside issues please? Cheers Richard
  18. 3 off the top of my head: Al Wilson - The Snake (Soul City) Ral Donner - Don't Let It Slip Away (Sunlight/Star Fire) Newbeats - Run Baby Run (Hickory) I could go on ... Cheers Richard
  19. Hi everyone Sandy Williams version of this song was on 4 Corners of The World - a Kapp subsidiary. Can anyone tell me anything about the artist, label, where the song was recorded please? I know there are at least two other versions of the song by Barbara Lewis and Little Pattie. Seen WDJ copies if Sandy Williams but is there an issue? What is the value of a WDJ please? Any info gratefully received. Cheers Richard
  20. Hi everyone I'm looking for juke box strips for 60s Detroit stuff please. Labels like Ric-Tic, Golden World, Wheelsville, Wingate, Groovesville, D-Town etc. If you can help me out please just PM me Cheers Richard
  21. What Lambrini adverts Aid? Must have missed those Richard
  22. It's a very corny, cheesy, poppy record - a bit of pop novelty. The backing isn't great - compared to many other Northern classics and the vocal performance is more pop than soul (no doubt deliberate). Plus, the topic is a weird story about a snake - which again is very 'novelty'. If it was "... I love you baby ..." or some other storyline things might be different. It's a record I really dislike and I disliked it from the opening moments on the first time I heard it. Richard
  23. Pete - play the video and look at the label details - "Accompaniment Directed By Pete Smith" Cheers Richard
  24. Hi everyone From reading other threads on here I understand Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart came out on Stateside three times - twice in 1966 and then again in 1969. Can anyone tell me how to identify the three different issue copies please? I also know the demos were different between the 1966 (white and red) and 1969 (green and white) copies - but were there any differences between the two 1966 demo releases - or was there only one 1966 demo? Cheers Richard
