  1. It seems like they are all 70s pressings /boots widely available at the time from dealers like Colin Bee...I know cos i still got mine not worth a great deal i would'nt think but a few are British issues / reissues . which can create a bit of intrest .,I have seen the M.V.P.S. make reasonable money on ebay 20 quidish ....hope this helps

  3. Thanks Pete ....im gutted , thought someone was gonna say like they do on Antiques roadshow .."Have you got it insured"....thanks for the info...regards Jem

Agree Whispers one of my faves along with " Im the one to do it " and " I dont want to lose your love" also love the lesser played "Try it again"..... so many great tunes and a voice to die for...... simply brilliant
  6. Would'nt disagree with any of that. However as a record i personally like it despite some of its cringeworthy connections , just wish it was a twenty quid oldie that was played every so often, then it would'nt have got the media intrest it did and we would'nt all be discussing it in great depth on here...just there was'nt an option in the voting for "do you like the record but believe its reputation had been tarnished due to its over exposure an subsequent pantomime status on the Northern Soul scene" else i might have voted for that one
  7. But they must think its quite good ,or they would not be dancing to it .
  8. Precisions ...If this is love (i'd rather be lonely) ...One of the most dramatic and best intros imo. ...30 secs if you allow the spoken intro "hear me girl you tell me you love me" etc.
  9. Brilliant record! ....forget the hype and also opinions based on Northern Soul etiquette ,rare or not, just sit down and listen on your own and if you honestly still think that its a crap record in its own right then i am dumbfounded ....overplayed yes of course it is ,but still would be in my favourites list...and i actually could take it or leave it when I first heard it in 1978 at the Fleet, covered as Eddie Foster ...seems to have got better with maturity for me ...of course only my opinion
  10. Peter's Faces ..did a version of "Just like Romeo and Juliet" on UK Piccadilly or Pye i think
  11. I have used wallpaper overlap adehsive available in a small tubes from diy shops ...gives great results and dries out clear. I usually apply a small ammount with a cocktail stick to back of label ....good luck Jem
  12. Surely though a lot of the so called bad records were aimed at a mainstream "pop" audience, so unsuprising that they would not appeal to soul fans ...Motown was /is a major label and all the other major labels did the same

After taking a bit of break foom soulsource i recently rejoined ,about the same time this thread started , must say, that i thought at the start what the hell is I.L. doing he is gonna get slaughtered on here ...but you have defended your corner well and in my oponion breathed some life back into this site with this thread (now thats what i call irony ) . I dont agree with some of the things you have said and think you have ruffled a few feathers but i am sure people will get over it. anyway congrats and thanks for an interesting read
