  1. After reading this thread I've just had to play the youtube clip to see if I was losing the plot and I'm relieved to say I'm not. Great record, especially about 4 in the morning
  2. I've got it, let me know if you still need it
  3. If you play grade a record and describe it as VG, VG+, Ex, Ex+, M- etc without taking account of the visual - how can you tell the difference between those grades? To me a record either plays well or it doesn't Can anyone tell the difference between a VG+ and an Ex grade by listening? Must have better hearing than me
  4. The grey area about visual and play grades is a problem. To me a grading is visual and if it plays any different to the visual grade then it should be stated. Also one factor that never gets mentioned is the light which you are looking at the record in. The room I use has a light fitting with 3x50 watt bulbs which shows up any flaws, take record with scratches on into another room with ordinary bulbs and it can look mint

  6. Issue sorted now, thanks for all the comments
  7. Got in touch with the seller, apparently he thinks its ok to post without stiffeners as the record was in a strong card sleeve So the fault is with some "hoof fisted postie" as he put it
  8. Just had a record come via royal mail signed for. I noticed the outside of the mailer had an indentation along one edge and sure enough the record, whilst in otherwise lovely condition, has a small crack in the edge. There weren't any stiffeners inside with the record though! Is it the senders responsibility to claim compensation? Should I just ask to return and let him deal with it? Any advice?
  9. Doh You know my memory has gone mate, you need to make allowances

That takes some beating, when was that Sean, recently? If so gives us all hope
  24. The main thing for me here seems to be missing in most arguments. Check out post 11, theres a clip of the record being played in the Crazy Horse at the Butlins weekender in Feb. I was there at the time to witness this (unfortunately) Now this is an oldies only crowd, many resplendent in their bags, with a beer towel tucked away in their badge covered holdall. This record comes on and the floor is heaving Why? Its not a Wigan stomper! Is it because some "DJ's" ( I use the term loosely ) have decided its worthy of plays and when it comes on and everyone dives to the floor, people think "this is popular - I'd better dance" ??? I know one thing, if Butch had've come on next and played some quality proper tunes the whole crowd would have walked off and stood there with their arms folded!
