  2. The real deal nights Joan are where the girls don't wear any knickers, sod the circle skirts give me no knickers any day of the week lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  3. Is it not better in terms of how a night flows to get different DJ's playing their prefered style rather than DJ's playing fragmented mixed spots? it can work sometimes but can be very hit and miss. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  13. My opinion of soul packs has always been the same unless the dealer selling them was/is totally clueless then 99 times out of a 100 the contents of a soul pack in most instances will be crap having said that record prices in general of the early 70's were in most cases only a few pounds so perhaps it was more common for the odd decent record to find it's way into a soul pack and peoples comments here confirm that also people dealing in records then like John Anderson had access to many titles in quantity for example I remember John telling me a story when we met up in Chicago a few years ago when he had a major hit with all the One-Derful,M-Pac, Mar-V-Lus labels which included about 800 copies of The Ringleaders so the chances are that a few soul packs around that time would have included a copy?, general rule being if it's too good to be true or a bargain then it was possibly due to error on the dealers part luck or the fact being that no one had a crystal ball to see into the future that a Donna Coleman, Dottie And Millie or Tobi Lark etc. would become £200/300/400 rarities thirty years down the line. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  14. Totally with you on this Martyn, not DJ'ing now myself I'm having more fun than I have in a long time buying, selling picking up things I let go, things that passed me by, like you say there is enough out there to keep us all interested in the music, one major thing I have done is let go some of the bigger trophy type records and invested the money in more records basically selling one and buying twenty or thirty bits and bobs, there are some stunning bargains out there if you dig a little, odd ball classic soul demos etc. for pennies, as for finding the next George Blackwell or Dena Barnes I'm not sure but we have forty years of the scenes music to go at so I think all you can really ask for is to gel all the best bits together which from a club perspective should keep the dance floors happy, if not carry on collecting for yourself is exactly what I do now. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  15. Nice price on the Joe Tex Keith, great record which I paid a bit more for than your asking price, bargain. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
