Soul Giant Hi folks, well it was an extremely enjoyable day at the Stags Head. Soul Giant residents Carl & Maria Willingham... known as the "Willingham Collective", travel a long way and therefore it is much appreciated that the people in London offer them a warm reception and the support they deserve. Jim, Barty ,Ged and myself are touched by their music and even more in the company of two seriously decent people. Sunday delivered a good collection of well known oldies & a bevy of rarest of the rare selections for those who are really on the button with what the scene has to offer. We did have a little issue with the sound at first but got this sorted. Otherwise the sound system is excellent. Our policy is focused on music of a dance quality with a driving beat some might say "fast paced" however we also play the pick of the mid-tempo 60's and some sweet beat cross-over/modern selections especially early on in the day. I can say that the food is Ace!..The steak & Ale pie with chips and a salad and fresh home made pizzas were all I saw on the tables. The Ale's are reasonably priced and so is the larger all on tap! We have chosen not to charge on the door... so...we hope that the day is reasonable for everyone. Encouraging to see lots of soul people in the house who mixed in well with friends and even some family members who attended. The Stags Head is a unique experience as it offers the traditional entraps of an East London boozer, with a separate dance floor (good sized) that has a lovely smooth floor and a stage..it was especially cosy as the pub has a real fire place and had put up Christmas lighting. We are currently putting together dates for 2017. It is likely that we wont put this event on monthly instead we will go every 6-8 weeks. We will therefore ask folks to keep an eye on this event through facebook where Ged has created lots of interesting blogs & music entrails to search. Happy days to all and perhaps will see lots of you at the 100club this Saturday night where the Willingham Collective will sound out the year with Bang!! bakersoul......
