  4. Here's the mixcloud archive link for the Divine Chord Gospel Show pt. 47, originally broadcast on 27th May 2015 on dublab.com....movements through low slung funk, to soulful harmonies and swamp blues, rounding things off with some obscure crossover, modern soul and disco beats. A fine ride through an hours worth of tunes you might not have heard before. https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-47/ This month, we kick off with arguably the funkiest offering from one of gospel's biggest stars, Andrae Crouch....something a little different from this legend. Also featured are cuts from the essential Crowns of Glory LP, another sublime tune from Andrew Wartts & we give the amazing 45 by the Hightone's of Racine a spin....a stone cold killer! Pt. 2 features fantastic vocals from the Rocks of Harmony, before heading to swamp blues territory courtesy of Johnnie Billings & the Dixon Brothers. For pt. 3, we warm up the dancefloor with an obscure gospel disco session....highlights are from The Testimonial Singers and the super rare Reflection of Truth 45. The set is rounded off nicely by the club stormer by Gwen Carter...one currently getting major plays around Europe. Feel free to join the facebook group 'The Divine Chord Gospel Show'!

The decimal point needs to be moved over two places to the left.......this is a $10 record......sounds like it too, both in condition and quality.

  12. Delivery from California @ $4 within the US, $18.75 worldwide for one LP. Gospelaires of Dayton, Ohio 'Rest for the weary' (Savoy) LP Cover = VG (3"top seam split), Vinyl = VG++ (close to M-) Price in US DOLLARS = $30 + shipping Contains the LP killer modern soul dancefloor mover 'Nowhere to run'. Please check the mp3, where you'll find two clips....the first recorded straight at zero pitch adjustment, the second recorded with the pitch adjusted to minus 4. I like to play it at the second variation....IMO gives it more punch and just works a bit better. Here's another rather embarrassing c/u from RNS.....1,000 quid??? I can see that the angle here is towards ripping off soulies who don't have any gospel knowledge.....not really into that myself, as the whole idea of my radio show is to share all the details of this awesome, relatively untapped music...if I know it, possibly played it on my show (as well in this case, comped it on the 'Holy Spirit!' Jewel comp), I'll happily pass on the info. There's even a youtube clip for this 45, uncovered natch. https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Rare-70s-80s/37123/same-old-bridge-cu/#product Is the Mighty Sons of Glory 'Don't forget the bridge' (Jewel) Whilst it's not the most readily available Jewel disc, it will crop up for sale, and should be no more than $50. GBP1k is gettin' ugly.
  14. Delivery from California @ $4 within the US, $12.75 worldwide The Reflections 'You don't love me' (Went) Strong VG++ (a shade under M-) Price in US DOLLARS = $30 + shipping Evergreen quality soul 45. Clip is not from the copy on offer and for reference only. Thanks!
  15. In about a months time, I'm gonna be heading off on my Euro DJ Tour 2015. I'll be posting all the details soon in the next coupla weeks....but f'now.....here's a mix I recorded 10 years ago, just before my move to California. A selection of killer cuts striding several genres that I was DJ'ing in and around London in 2005.....so not just soul events, but anywhere else that decided to give me some airtime. Hopefully you'll get to hear what's in the playbox this time around....would love to see ya at the club! https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/london-funk-soul-45s-2005/
  16. This is a boot....AOE/Fryer has a legitimate reissue slated for release soon, and from what I could see on facebook, served notice to the bootlegger to remove this item from sale.

Ummm, 'Unknown & unlisted, possibly only known copy'??? Somebody isn't doing very much research and blurting out false sales pitches. Hear it here, track 19, from DCGS pt. 42. https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-42-xmas-edition-2014/

A copy spiked on ebay not so long ago around the $80 mark, and I thought that was steep. I like it.....nice little stepper. That said, it's a $20 record on a sizable label. A 500 quid price tag is insanity.
  20. Oh my.....2015 is turning into one of the worst years....I just don't understand it! Whilst I didn't know Helena well, I remember hanging out with her a coupla years ago in Manchester for the weekender as well as a great Friday session at the Dulcimer just up the road. She was so full of enthusiasm, and clearly enjoyed this thing called 'soul'....when Helena played, you could tell every single record was borne out of a taste she'd nurtured, and not just picked up an expensive 45 because it was flavour of the month. My heart goes out to all her family and to those that knew her. R.I.P. soulful lady. Here was one of her plays at the Manchester weekend, which saw her dancing away behind the turntables.
  21. Here's the 46th installment of The Divine Chord Gospel Show which appears monthly on dublab.com, originally broadcast on 22nd April 2015. https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-46/ Kicking off this session with an immaculate cut from the Como Mama's & the Daptone stable, and then keeping it locked to a midtempo selection this month. Then we turn up the heat before ending the section with the worldwide broadcast premiere of the gospel funk soon-to-be-killer 'Hold on' acetate. Pt. 2 is a shortened section, but features stunning cuts out of Ohio from the Sensational Saints, as well as sublime vocal performances from the Faithful Harmonizers. To close out this show, we head to crossover modern soul territory, with first class offerings from Rev. T.L. Barrett & Lem McCall. The Supreme Jubilees has another cut from their grail LP featured & the Motivations 'Get ready' gets a spin thanks to a Samuel Hugosson discovery. Sublime tracks for your dancefloor. Feel free to join the facebook group 'The Divine Chord Gospel Show'!
  22. Thanks so much to those of you that tuned in live to yesterday's broadcast. Here's the tracklist, including the worldwide radio debut of the killer cut 'Hold on'....and a slightly extended 3rd section featuring some ultra classy modern soul and crossover cuts. The archived mixcloud link will be available shortly. The Divine Chord Gospel Show pt. 46 hosted by DJ Greg Belson The Como Mama’s ‘Out of the wilderness’ (Daptone) Little Davis Trio ‘He changed me’ (Living Light) The Soul Seekers ‘Turn back to the Lord’ (Mission) The Powerful Singing Tornadoes ‘I ain’t never had it so good’ (PDG) The Mighty Wonders ‘Gone the last mile’ (Jamack) The Violinaires ‘Trying to get ready’ (Jewel) Unknown Artist ‘Hold on’ (Metal Acetate) Talkset The Sensational Saints ‘My brother’ (Bos) The Traveling Echoes ‘Reap what you sow’ (Jar-Val) Faithful Harmonizers ‘Trouble of the world’ (Sky Line) The Detroit Silvertones ‘Dear Lord’ (Sacred Sounds) Soul Lifters ‘Let this be a lesson to you’ (No label) Talkset Rev. 24. Broadcasting live in 36 hours....see you there!
