  1. Nice LP but be weary of the mastering fault....all copies play with a high pitch hum throughout the whole set, mate. Massive shame as the music is pretty great!
  2. Cheers for that Roburt......glad you're into that 45. Definitely been a big spin for me since filing a copy a while back.
  3. It's a bit of a mixture Kev, but mostly Michaels.....if you need to know which 10 tunes I played, then holler my way. Cheers!

  6. Live right now.....just hit the play button in the link.....thanks! https://dublab.com/
  7. Tune in later on today.......a whole bunch of top flight rarities for your listening enjoyment! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sscPjiJgLik
  8. Thanks for the comments, Jaco.......I'm sure a lot of these recordings have gone undiscovered for so long because of prejudices to the lyrical content. I'm not religious in the slightest, yet I started collecting gospel around 10 years ago. And the journey's been pretty great so far, uncovering some of the most spectacularly soulful performances I've ever heard, regardless of what the message is. A proportion of secular soul cuts have throw away lyrics at any rate, so why not just listen to the tone and delivery and not worry about the meaning?
  9. Slowly but surely I've been adding some fresh uploads to my youtube channel......hovering around 140 or so at the moment. I try to add titles that are new to youtube, so if you've got a minute or two, check out some of the tunes on offer, here. https://www.youtube.com/user/DivineChordGospel And to give you a flavour, here's one that got a spin during my Euro tour this year, and seemed to turn a few inquisitive heads to the turntables. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhn2JbpL6-g Any questions and suchlike, then fire away.......cheers!
  10. Thanks for listening, Kev....much appreciated.......the Kicking Mustangs is a belter......shame about the bad fadeout on the actual tune, but the quality of the music makes up for it. It's the flip of a deep funk classic instrumental.
  11. Cheers for checking the show, Dave......glad you dug it, mate. And yep, Ruben is a fine fellow.......and you, sir!
  12. And the archive link is in this thread.......cheers!
  13. Join me please on dublab.com at 12 midday US PST (8pm UK time) for a special broadcast of 45's of Fury with my guest DJ Mr. Robinson (Dig Deeper). https://dublab.com/ In many soul and funk circles, Mr. Robinson needs very little introduction.....but for those that need a heads-up, here goes! A native from the UK, transplanted to the US via New York City, Mr. Robinson has been immersed in soul music for most of his adult life. His penchant for rare soul grew from visits to such legendary venues as the 100 Club in London town.......for the last 30 years, things have spiraled out of control......just a tad. Not only does he dig that extra mile for some of the rarest recordings on the planet, he spends most of his spare time finding the original artists and bringing them back to the stage. Alongside co-founder DJ Honky, you can find Mr. Robinson hosting some of the hottest soul events on any continent with his 'Dig Deeper' nights. Essential stuff indeed....and today he graces us with some of his vinyl excavations. Mind blowing stuff, so notepads at the ready, it's gonna get a tad nasty. https://www.facebook.com/digdeepernyc https://www.youtube.com/user/NYCDigDeeper/videos
  14. First aired on 24th July 2013 Here's the 26th installment of The Divine Chord Gospel Show which appears monthly on dublab.com. https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-26/ This month, the first set is dedicated to some big first time plays for me during my recent European Tour......some heavy hitters here including the Gospel Dynamics and their nod to the Isley Brothers. To close, I've selected a few choice cuts from my Glastonbury set for the Block 9 NYC Downlow crew....an awesome event in the middle of a large field near the East Coast of the UK. Gospel Disco had the massive crowd goin' crazy!! Such an absolute joy to DJ that night, and a special memory f'sure! Thanks to all that danced their socks off! And slide..........! Feel free to join the facebook group 'The Divine Chord Gospel Show'. Thanks!

  19. Just a few days to go for this pretty much essential show......hope you can tune in!
  20. Thanks alot for the comments, mate....I'm hoping to get another invitation. If so, I'm there like a shot ;)
  21. Please join us on dublab.com as we host the next installment of the Divine Chord Gospel Show radio broadcast scheduled for Wednesday 24th July 2013 at 2pm US PST (10pm UK time) https://dublab.com/ For pt. 26, I'll be reliving some of the highlights of my recent 2 month European tour, playing some of the cuts that I debuted including the Gospel Dynamics and Pearl Farano. And I'll have an extended section dedicated to my NYC Downlow set at the Glastonbury Festival....just an amazing experience, so please tune in to share it one more time! For those of you that missed the last show, here's the mixcloud link; https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/divine-chord-gospel-show-pt-25/ Also, please feel free to explore and subscribe to our youtube channel featuring some of the choicest 45's to be played on the show. https://www.youtube.com/user/DivineChordGospel/videos?flow=grid&view=0 And then, get ready for a special 45's of Fury show, featuring; East LA DJ and music historian Ruben Molina and his deep crates of sweet, sweet soul. Ruben's selection is stuff of legend and you can catch him playing as part of the Southern Soulspinners crew around California. He's also the author of the essential book 'Chicano Soul' and is the foremost authority on Chicano recordings out of Los Angeles. https://www.amazon.com/Chicano-Recordings-History-American-Culture/dp/B002V5F8NG . Man, it's gonna be somethin' special! 1. Reggie Soul and the Soul Swingers 'World Of Ecstacy' (Capri 11712) [1968] What a beautiful Chicago production. This record has it all: a nice groove, jazzy flute, great lyrics and it fits perfectly into the low rider style. This is the type of record that steps up a collector’s game. 2. Passionetts 'My Life Depends On You' (Soul Burst 501) [1969] A Haunting ballad. Philadelphia female group harmony at its best. It’s not until 1:20 into the song that that you even hear Juanita Stewart’s lead vocals. 3. Kickin Mustangs 'Take A Miracle' (Plato 80286) [1968] Fantastic ballad out of Ashland, KY. A mixed group lead by Danny Shortridge. The record was actually recorded in Cincinnati. Made its way out to Los Angeles on one of the Lost Soul compilations. 4. Deceptions 'Of All The Hearts' (Brooks 323) [1968] Sweet soul magic from Norfolk, VA’s Deceptions. Another one of those beat ballads that became popular among Chicano “oldies” buyers in the mid-nineties. 5. Masqueraders 'One More Chance' (La Beat 6705) [1967] Dallas’ Masqueraders have a long history with the low rider culture. With the popularity of songs like “I’m Just An Average Guy” and “I Ain’t Got To Love Nobody Else” from the moment of their release it didn’t take much for this gem to be on everyone’s want list.
  22. My Euro Tour 2013 was something special for me....I met some great people along the way, playing rare 45's from London to Leeds, Berlin to Bournemouth and Manchester to Naples. But the cherry on the icing of the cake, has to be the incredible (and I mean 'incredible'!!) session at Glastonbury Festival for Block 9 and the NYC Downlow stage. Just an amazing experience that's one of the highlights of my DJ'ing career....so many smilin' faces and people dancin' from start to finish. Here's the recording from the night itself....and yes, I still have a smile on my face! https://thedownlowradio.com/greg-belson-live-nyc-downlow-2013/#more-8426
