Ten years on, and the word has been spreading globally, including a worldwide reach via dublab's platforms, a clutch of compilation's released on Cultures of Soul, Luaka Bop & Honest John's, and international DJ bookings to bring that 'Divine Disco'' sound to a town near you. It's a celebration of the first show that aired way back when, bookended with a slew of recent discoveries. This Wednesday 26th May on dublab, it's another label focus feature on the DIVINE CHORD GOSPEL SHOW with your host, GREG BELSON. Join us at 2pm US PST (10pm UK GMT) for the second two hour label spotlight of 2021, this time we’re heading to Memphis to explore the amazing catalog of; DESIGNER RECORDS Link; https://www.dublab.com Designer operated between 1968 and 1978 produced approximately 400 and 500 singles and a few albums. Yet less than 30 years after the last issue, Designer has faded into the mist, and little is known of its story. The printed labels tells us it was run from at least two addresses in Park Avenue, Memphis – No 3373, then later No 3109 – by Style Wooten and Charles Bowen......supposedly the label closed from pressure by rival local labels. But here we shine a light on a percentage of their catalog. All the soulful sub genres are covered here, so we've gotcha covered, whatever your particular penchant should be. Once again, over 40 7" singles are loaded in the crates. We're running deep into this amazing body of work....pull up a chair, grab a pen....it's music you might not have heard before!
