If you are talking to someone intelligent the best way is to reply that most record companies in the 60s were trying to cash in on the Motown sound and so is very similar in style, most of it being inferior to Tamla Motown records but still some that were actually superior, most of the uninitiated have a set view of Northern Soul and nothing you can say will change their mind, most people thought i was going to the casino to listen to dross like Third Finger Left Hand, if only they knew i was actually going to hear Court Davis, Cecil Washington and the like.
  7. Going slightly off thread here on the mod scene, but i always laugh when i remember the invasion of the mods towards the last days of the casino, Pat Brady saying this one is for the mods KENNY GAMBLE and THE JOKES ON YOU, priceless.
  8. GEORGE JACKSON - A LITTLE EXTRA STROKE, THE ESCORTS - SING A HAPPY SONG, O.T. SYKES - STONE CRUSH ON YOU.
  9. heres another few clifton hall spins-ELEMENT EXPERIENCE-WRITE YOUR TICKET, CLIFF DAWSON-I CAN LOVE YOU BETTER,PEABO BRYSON-GO FOR IT. these tracks arent as well known as the previous mentioned records but are every bit as good.
  10. If ever a record was overated because of its rarity and price this is it,if this record had been found by John Anderson in its thousands on lets say Ric-Tic instead of an unreleased SOUL item,it would be largely forgotten now,the record does nothing for me whatsoever and wouldnt get nowhere near my own personal top 500.
  11. hello i was wondering if anyone could tell me the real identity of an old soul sam cover up, he played it at the casino circa 79/80- it was an instrumental that he had covered up as L.A.
