ASHTON UKRAINIAN CLUB
The Small but Mighty Soul Club that is the one and only Ashton Ukrainian Club, swings back into action on Saturday May 17th and as promised another Quality Line up awaits the Ashton Faithful!! Chic Mullineux is back behind the decks after an Astounding Set last time out. I'm sure the Shropshire Soul Crew will be in attendance with That man Ricey leading the charge for the dancefloor!! John Hillel also makes a welcome return, quality Rare Soul 45s primed and ready for the turntables!! Ashton Regular Steve Skopek will also adding to what is already a real strong line up, reinforcing the quality collections in the area!! Simon "The Fixer" Ingham has been adding some quality 45s to what is already an enviable collection, please clink on the link to immerse yourself in a whole raft of Rare Soul 45s on our Soul-Source event page thread, some real gems already for you to check out, for a sample of the aural delights on offer!! Phil Dunn "The Fire Starter" will as ever be lighting the blue touch paper to propel us into Soul Heaven!! The Man who starts the night off, in his usual accomplished style!! Add to that Chris Churm # Dyno Rod# The Finisher# Lord Ashton # Last hour sensations# you know it's gonna be good!!! We also have the Stockport Answer to Frank Elson Mike Roche our resident hack who in between burning rubber on the dancefloor, has an encyclopaedic memory for all the vinyl nuggets bouncing out of the speakers, his reviews are second to none "checking out the north" The night runs 7pm-00.30 and £6 admission pay on the door, gets you over the threshold!! We have new attendees arriving monthly, the word is out!! Sound like your kinda thing? See you there!!

WOLFIES SOUL CLUB MICK HOWARD, JOHN PUGH & JASON ARNOLD
My first time at WOLFIES SOUL CLUB a really nice venue, the layout of the room reminded me of Stubshaw with the raised seating area at the back of the room. Nice to see some of the Ashton Faithful, making the trip down William Mailey Mike Roche Debbie McCracken and Carl Dazzlin DuzDallas. Thanks to Natalie Nicholls for the invite down and Ken Onions for the lift back to the hotel. If you haven't yet tried this venue, you're missing a trick, great sound system and cheap bar, win, win. Here's my contributions to the night 10pm-11pm and thanks for the great feedback, it really is appreciated!! Little Johnny Hamilton "oh how I love you" Ivy Jo "I can feel the pain" The Experts "my love is real" Buddy Connor "when you're alone" James Wayne "I found someone" Rose Brooks "I'm moanin'" The Vontells "ta hula hoop" Archie Bell "A 1000 wonders" The Dynamics "you make me feel good" Patti Drew "stop and listen" The Dramatics "your love was strange" J J Barnes "baby please come back home" The Jackson Brothers "I gotta hear it from you" Barbara Mason "you better stop it" Melvin Davis "I must love you" Billy Hambric "I found true love" Billy Ecsktine "I wonder why" Little Charles + The Sidewinders "talkin' bout you babe" Elbie Parker "please keep away" Syl Johnson "do you know what love is" Jesse Johnson "left out" The Tempests "someday" David Coleman "drown my heart" The Invitations "watch out little girl" C L Blast "what can I do"

It's going to be an emotional night in memory of Ted Massey a huge part of our scene. I am honoured to be a part of the evening, albeit tinged with sadness. Let's raise a glass and have a dance to remember a great man, see you all tonight!!!

Up and at 'em another possible for Friday, sounded The Business when Stu "Shovel" Cheetham played it at Ashton!! Came out on two labels Earnest King/King Earnest whatever your preference? Si "The Fixer" Ingham said he would probably dislocate his knee dancing to it, but he's gonna give it a go!!!

ASHTON UKRAINIAN CLUB
Another Great night at Ashton Ukrainian Club, considering we had an enforced date change and a super busy Soul Event Calendar, we had an amazing response from The Ashton Faithful!! Apologies in advance I didn't catch some of Phil Dunn ever excellent opening spot, pesky speaker went out, no fear The Caped Crusader Simon "The Fixer" Ingham sorted the tech issues, fresh speaker and we were off and running!! Stu "Shovel" Cheetham made a welcome return and didn't disappoint Vanguards "good times" and The outstanding Percy and them "trying to find a new love" Awesome stuff, not forgetting a real blast from the past "Funky Nassau" Tony Mac deffo lived up to "The Silent Assassin" Trends "thanks for a little lovin" a non too shabby opener Gerri Hall, Troy Dodds, Sheila Ferguson "and in return" to name a few, outstanding set sir!! I followed and tried to mix it up kicking off with Little Charles "talkin' bout you babe" especially for Natalie Nicholls resplendent in luminous Fred Perry Apparel very classy KTFPP x I'll post a playlist later, I'm sure Mike Roche will have a more detailed recall of some highlight spins on the night!! Headlining it was a pleasure to have Baz Maleady back behind the decks a real mixed Bag Hayes Cotton "black wings" Big Bud Harper, check out the video Houston Outlaws "ain't no telling, The Differences WOWSER The dancefloor loved it!! Our other caped crusader Chris Churm was multi tasking sound engineer, Dyno Rod Technician( you had to be there) and still had the wherewithal to produce a stunning closing set!! Keep your eyes on here and The Soul Source event page thread for our May date, when we return to our normal third Saturday Slot!! April Ashton Video.mp4
