  3. From a guy in Detroit................. I know, personally, that a lot of the acetates I saw have been sold on E-Bay-so they must have been "Stolen" from Motown. I just hope that none of the master tapes were taken. But, even in 1973 there were tapes missing. Also, probably many of the Motown Record File and Jobete Music Record File records must have been "lifted" without approval of The Company. Many of those were "pulled" records that only had 6 pressing plant masters pressed up. That includes the Frank Wilson(Soul), Andantes(VIP) and probably The Charters(Melody), Andre Williams and Gino Parks (Miracle) and several others.

  6. "Blues And Soul" magazine have reported that a Chuck Jackson Anthology will be released in September. The article states that the 2CD set will include his motown work plus around 21 unreleased masters. The release date should coincide with a UK appearance in early October, when he performs at a northern/Motown show...
  7. Emailed Manship a few days ago about this with my info' and he replied in bold letters .... see below... From Simon Soussan's "Collection"??? YES He bought the actual record in L.A., From Tom Depiero and sold it in England, NO almost immediately upon his return. He may have gotten a tape of it quite a while earlier than he got the record (but I'm not sure of that). Was it heard in the clubs for a long time before the real Soul record was sold in U.K? YES IT WAS I really doubt that it was cut in 1965. SO DO I. john @ John Manship Records Website www.raresoulman.co.uk Email john@raresoulman.co.uk

  18. One of the few down sides of being a Soul Fan is that you have to buy many records blind. As a result of this, the Northern Soul scene undoubtedly has the most knowledgeable music fans in the world. Every aspect of the 45 is examined for clues. First clue is usually the record label, say Ric Tic - usually high quality, and out of Detroit - buy it! On lesser known labels check out the artist(s) - if it's The Precisions on Drew - buy it! Take a look at the song writing credits too - if it's Bridges, Knight and Eaton - buy it! What about the Arranger? - one of the best in the business was Andrew 'Mike' Terry - buy it! As for Production, step up Mr Don Davis a genius and a stalwart of the Detroit music scene - buy it! Even the Music Publisher can get the once over - Myto Music - buy it! And not forgetting the matrix number in the run out groove...ZTSC and all that. Quite simple really, biggest problem is usually the price! thanks to David Meikle, Glasgow, Scotland
  19. Chuck Jackson - Don't look over your shoulder Flirtations - Need your loving Can anyone help me find these two 45s....better still sell them to me.....pm me with price...... Thanks............ SHUTE
  20. Just borrowed this from another site...sorry thought you might like a little light reading... Funnyman Bill Cosby is at the middle of a shocking new assault scandal after an unnamed Canadian woman claimed he had sex with her at his Cheltenham Township home near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The anonymous woman alleges Cosby invited her back to his home after meeting her at a local restaurant and gave her pills that made her dizzy after she complained of stress and tension. She admits her memory about what happened next on the night last January is fuzzy but she recalls Cosby allegedly touching her breast and placing her hand on his genitals. In a complaint made to Toronto Police, which has been passed to Philadelphia authorities to investigate, the woman claims she awoke at about 4am the following morning with her clothing in disarray and her bra undone. Cosby's accuser states she didn't report the incident immediately because she was concerned it might effect her standing at Temple University, Philadelphia, where she worked. Cosby has not been charged and his attorney Jack Schmitt insists his client is innocent: "The charges are categorically false." Meanwhile, Cosby cancelled a show in Cleveland, Ohio, on Wednesday night for "undisclosed personal reasons". from IMDB.com
