  1. Well, the highest bid and the third highest bid were submitted by the same bidder, that's true. The fourth highest bid, at $950, was submitted by who I've been referring to as the third bidder. Confusing I admit.
  2. Ummm, no, they weren't. I can't even begin to imagine how you got that. The second highest bidder was just some hijacked account that bid on dozens of different high priced items yesterday, the Lenny Williams being the only record on his shopping list the last time I checked. It's getting to be a common occurence these days on any item over a certain amount. I don't know what they hope to get out of it but it's been happening to me and a lot of other sellers the last couple months. The winning bidder is a genuine soulie who got in over his head and refused to lose a bidding war.
  3. Well, obviously what a record was worth a year ago is not at all relevant. If it is I'll gladly buy a copy off you for 75 pounds. As to whether it is worth what I relisted it at, roughly 300 pounds, we'll find out in three days I guess.
  4. For anyone that was following this I have relisted the Lenny Williams 45 for a three day auction with a start price of $599.99. The item number is 280214923365.
  5. Lenny Williams Relisted Auction. As you may have read over in the Look At Your Box forum, the auction that ended yesterday was disrupted by a hijacked account. I am rewinding the clock to give all interested parties a chance to place their bid. It's a three day auction, by the way.
  6. OK guys, I just spoke with the winning bidder and he suggested I relist the record, which I agree with. Basically the last 30 seconds or so of the auction zoomed past the third highest bidder (who bid $950). All three of these guys were placing manual bids by the way, no snipes involved. Which means that if someone had a hypothetical snipe set for $1,500 with four seconds to go, that bid would have failed to even register. I will probably have this relisted later today, pre-approved bidders only this time.
  7. That's right, but I got mixed up because Combs actually covers Why Should We Stop Now. I thin the Boola Boola and ABC of that one are the same, so Samantha is correct.
  8. (never mind, got my songs mixed up)
  9. I've had that record, it's a nice one. Pretty hard to come by from what I can tell. I actually liked the flip better, This Road Is Getting Hard or something similar. I don't have much info but can tell you that she is the sister of Dorothy Morrison, whose maiden name is Combs. There is a local Oakland gospel 45 from around the same time from the Combs Family, which features Dorothy on lead on one side. Not sure if Shirley is on that record or not. Justin Torres probably has more details to share...
  10. Well, that's true but I can't really expect them to pay that much and wasn't about to play dumb about the second highest being fake.
  11. Hijacked account means some idiot got access to someone else's account and went on a buying spree for high end items. I honestly don't know what the point of them doing this is (pretty easy for sellers to spot) but this is the second auction cycle in a row where my best record was disrupted by this nonsense. Anyway, it will be sorted out and if anyone from here had planned to bid at the last moment, please be in touch because I'm trying to figure out what to do.
  12. Not a joke but rather a case of the second highest bidder being a f-ing hijacked account. Currently trying to reach the winning bidder (who I believe is a board member) to try to figure out how to proceed. I don't understand your comment about "strange ebay auctions" but in case anyone was wondering this situation is being handled properly by myself.
  13. OK, now just half a day to go. Get those bids in!
  14. Only three days to go on these and still plenty of major bargains to be had! Someone may end up outright stealing that Cheryl Williams away from me...
  15. I have more than 200 45s for auction right now. Northern, modern, funk, boogaloo, garage, salsa, etc. Every auction has a soundclip, some have two. Please take the time to go through the list, lots of great records being offered. ebay link
  16. I'd buy this record all day at a dollar a pop. From what I gather the flipside was a beach music thing, although my knowledge of that scene is nil. I Love Women is unmistakably a quality modern soul tune though. Not saying it's going to be the next big thing or anything but it does seem to have fallen through the gaps for whatever reason. Here's a soundclip (refosoul seems to be down at the moment but I can add it to that later): https://www.soulpersuasion.com/kidinquisiti...iffordcurry.mp3
  17. Just found a copy of this at a record show and have been enjoying it these past few days, but doesn't seem to be widely known. At least I can't find anything on the web and it is not listed in the Manship guide. Are folks around here up on this? Very nice midtempo modern soul sound. I can post a soundclip if people are curious.
  18. These are ending tomorrow if you haven't had a chance to check out the listings yet.
  19. 200 rare 45s covering the following genres: funk, northern soul, modern soul, latin, gospel, sweet soul, psych, garage, reggae and jamaican gospel. Every auction has a soundclip, some have two. All have low start prices. There are some truly rare records in this bunch that may never be seen again, so take the time to check out the whole list. The auctions can be found at this link: kidinquisitive auctions
  20. Just wanted to bump this up one last time. I still have a few copies left of Mellaa, the Bears and Carol Shinnette. I'd be willing to throw in free shipping for any order involving one or more of those records. I should mention that the Mellaa is offered elsewhere for more than double what I have it at.
  21. I have 220 LPs and 12s up on ebay right now - my biggest auction list ever! Nearly every listing has a soundclip too. See the auctions at this LINK
  22. All my Zingaras gone now too. Other titles still available but going fast...
  23. Cesar's All Stars is now sold out.
  24. Lady Margaret & Perry Smith is gone. Others still available but copies going fast.
  25. Here's a few 45s for set sale to tide you over until my next ebay auction. Mostly modern soul but don't overlook the great Latin boogaloo tune at the end. 1. Mellaa - Free b/w Makin' Love In The Fast Lane on Larc, NM, $60 Great in-demand modern soul here. The promo with Fast Lane on both sides is relatively common but you definitely want this rarer stock issue because "Free" is actually the better of the two tracks (although they're both quality)! https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov/mellaa_free.mp3 https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov/mellaa_fastlane.mp3 2. Luscious Three - Take Me As I Am b/w Say What You Mean on T'suga Rays, NM-, $60 Catchy femme crossover soul on this cool San Francisco label. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/august/lusciousthree.mp3 3. Carol Shinnette - Handsome Man b/w If You Change Your Mind on Optune, NM with picture sleeve, $40 Good boogie/modern tune out of Oakland. I've sold this for more on ebay but I snagged a couple copies. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov45/carolshinnette.mp3 4. Cesar's All Stars - See Saw Affair b/w The Lady In My Life on Teo, NM, $60 Very obscure self-released 45 by this San Francisco crew. These songs also appeared on the LP but the 45 is far rarer and, until recently, unknown. Linda Tillery contributes a beautifully soulful vocal and I believe this song could appeal to a lot of different crowds. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov/cesarsallstars.mp3 5. The Bears - Put A Little Love In Your Heart b/w What She Done on Mata, NM-, $20 Another San Francisco record, heretofore unknown, now gaining a little recognition. Classy blue-eyed modern/crossover soul. Grab this while it's still cheap. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/may/bears.mp3 6. Clarence Mann - Sadity Lady b/w Instrumental on Flowers, VG++, $10 Another soulful 80s release, this one from Indiana. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/august/clarencemann.mp3 7. Zingara - You Sho Know How To Love Me b/w For All Of My Life on Wheel, NM, wol, $8 Good m/f vocals on this mellow modern tune written by Lamont Dozier. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov/zingara.mp3 8. Lady Margaret & Perry Smith - Out In Space b/w Tripping With You on Gemini, NM, $25 Unique sounding home-made modern soul double-sider out of Oakland. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov/ladymargaret_trippin.mp3 https://www.soulpersuasion.com/nov45/ladymargaret.mp3 9. Pedrito Ramirez y Su Combo - Micaela b/w Por Tenerte on Popo, NM, $40 I have never been able to track down where this group was from but it's a great 60s boogaloo tune with Spanish vocals. Totally unknown until I came across a few copies. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/august/pedritoramirez.mp3 Grading: I grade conservatively and base my evaluation on the look AND sound of the record. I grade on a scale of NM, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- (I will rarely list a record less than VG unless its scarcity warrants it). Shipping: First class shipping within the U.S. is $4, including delivery confirmation. International shipping is $6 for regular airmail. As for multiple item purchases, shipping is free for the second 45 and $1 more per 45 (bulk purchases will ship at cost). I generally go to the post office 2-3 times a week to ship out packages, so you should get your record quickly! All records are packed using standard 45 mailers and cardboard fillers. Payment: I accept Paypal, money orders, and cash sent registered.
