  14. Ending very soon! Please make sure to get your bids in on time. https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZkidinquisitiveQQhtZ-1
  15. Warm Excursion and Showmen are sold/hold. Darondo is still anyone's game. The Village Crusaders is still available as well.
  16. Darondo - Legs b/w Let My People Go, Af-Fa World condition is VG minus. Accepting offers. Here's a 45 that has the distinction of being utterly amazing and impossibly rare. Bay Area record hunters will tell you, this one almost never turns up. It does play with some ticks and background noise, but in my opinion it is still a perfectly usable copy. Listen to the soundclips for both sides so you can decide for yourself: https://www.soulpersuasion.com/soundclips/darondo_legs.mp3 https://www.soulpersuasion.com/soundclips/d...y_people_go.mp3 I will take offers for a couple days. Offers can be submitted via PM or by email to kidinquisitive [at] gmail dot com. P.S. The writing on the label may actually be Darondo's autograph though there's no way to be certain. Village Crusaders - Akiwawa b/w Hashishi, Trans-America strong VG condition (plays excellent), $75 One of my all-time favorite funk 45s with hard drum breaks, flute solos, the whole shebang. And the b-side is a great Latin jazz number. Light marks but plays great. https://www.soulpersuasion.com/soundclips/akiwawa.mp3 (didn't have time to make soundclips for these last two but they both play great. you should be able to find soundclips at
  17. Just three days to go on these and bidding so far has been on the sleepy side so loads of bargains still possible. https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZkidinquisitiveQQhtZ-1
  18. I listed 92 45's on ebay earlier today. As usual, everything has a start price of $8 and no reserves. Soundclips are also available for many of the records. Some highlights include: Andrea Henry on MGM Two Whispers 45s on Dore Dave Cortez & The Moon People on Speed The Common People on Flodavieur (very rare psych) Sass (rare modern soul out of the Bay Area) Betty LaVette - What Condition My Condition Is In Chris Towns Unit on Port Freddie Hughes on Janus Please click here to see all the auctions: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZkidinquisitiveQQhtZ-1

  21. Wow, this is going great so far. Five days to go and the LP has already topped $200!
  22. Horrible news. I used to live just down the street from her. I am selling a copy of her LP on Ebay as a way to raise some cash for her. You can find a link and more info in the ebay sales subforum on this board.
  23. I am running an auction to benefit Sugar Pie DeSanto, who tragically lost her husband and home to a fire in Oakland on Oct. 26. You can read a San Francisco Chronicle article by clicking on this LINK. 100% of the final sale price from this auction will go to a fund that the local Wells Fargo branch has set up for her. Link To News Story This is a rare LP of her work that was issued by the local Jasman label in the mid-80s and compiles songs of hers from 1968 through the early 80's. It includes the funk classics "Git Back" and "Straighten It Out With Your Man", as well as personal soul favorite "Mama", as well as several other excellent songs. I urge anyone who would like to own this LP to bid generously considering that it will directly go to helping Ms. DeSanto. Any questions, please ask. Link To Auction (there are three soundclips that you can listen to if you're not already familiar with this great music)
  24. I have an even 100 soul 45's up for auction on ebay, ending in less than 4 days. Some cheapies but goodies as well as a few rarer titles are up for grabs. You can see the auctions here: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZkidinquisitiveQQhtZ-1
  25. Found some killer stuff right after I put up the last set sale a few days ago.(check that one out too if you haven't already). If anyone has trouble playing the soundfiles just contact me and I will send them directly to you via email. You can also see close-ups of the labels by clicking on thumbnails. Info on grading, payment, etc is at the end. Ulysses Crockett Magic - Resurgence b/w Tamura's Theme, $125 Transverse Records 006, NM- (unplayed store stock, very slight sleeve mark) Really unique jazz-funk on this tiny Berkeley, CA label with great vibes, congas, electric piano...the whole nine. Definitely a buzz around this record as of late but still somewhat under the radar so don't sleep! Listen: https://media.putfile.com/Resurgence-65 The Village Crusaders - Akiwawa b/w Hashishi, $40 Trans-America 0008, VG- to VG (lots of marks but plays OK for DJ-ing, just some pops here and there, flip plays better) No exaggeration to say this is one of my all time favorite funk 45s. Ridiculously hard drums, flute solos, perfect mix of funk and latin. Both sides are great. Only selling this because I found another copy. Listen: https://media.putfile.com/Akiwawa Charles Mintz - Give A Man A Break b/w Finder's Keepers, $35 Abbott 2011, NM- (label has some bubbling) Classic hard-charging funk with a good soul flipside. Originally came out on Uplook but picked up by Abbott shortly after. Don't think they made too many though as I've only come across this one copy. https://media.putfile.com/Give-A-Man-A-Break Mel Hueston - Time & Patience b/w Double Confusion, $30 Chanson 1179, VG++ Good rugged funky soul on this obscure label. Kind of reminds me of stuff like Lee Moses and Vernon Garrett. Listen: https://media.putfile.com/Double-Confusion Gene Faith - Family Man b/w My Baby's Missing, $25 Virtue 2512, NM, bbh on label I swear the drummer on this must have been listening to Hook & Sling studiously going into the session. Vastly underrated funky soul tune if you ask me. And the label design kicks major ass. Listen: https://media.putfile.com/Family-Man-36 Grading: I grade conservatively and base my evaluation on the look AND sound of the record. I grade on a scale of NM, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- (I will rarely list a record less than VG unless its scarcity warrants it).
