  1. thankfully all the young DJ`s I have mentioned before are playing ovo. so this goes to show they dont need to play boots or cd`s. Thank god they dont need or more imortant want to! No need to become a DJ if you havent got the real goods to deliver...be it a young gun or an "oldtimer"....dont want another debate wether ovo or not. Just my opinion.
  2. I dont know if "ripped off" is the accurate phrase. Jut like 99 % of the English R&B bands of the early and mid Sixties the Yardbirds covered a whole lot of originally black American R&B (and Soul). By doing so they were responsible for the acceptance of these original black sounds in England and elsewhere in Europe on a brider and wider scale. Many black artists were given a chance to tour Engalnd and Europe later on just because of the sucess of these sounds. So logically they were thankfull for the Beat bands covering their music. Berry Gordy for example once said there wouldnt have been a Motown tour thru England if there wouldnt have been the Beatles ...mmmh ?! Back to your question..my bet would be the Servicemen did not even know the Yardbirds but went full on the Major Lande record which was massive in 1964/65 (mainly for its a side of course).
  3. hi liam, you better stop it or else you will end up giving the first willing to "buy" it thirty quid change Seriously, thats a really good record and version and 30 UKP already a steal IMVHO.
  4. no prob, its on the flipside of "Um,Um,Um". One of the best 45s 10 - 20 UKP can buy you
  5. loads of fabulous compilations, but if I had to choose one and only one it would have to be "Detroit Inferno". timeless.
  6. a certain major lance recorded this tune in 1964..

On re-reading the first sentence it MUST be a record that was thought or rumoured to exist on 7inch but so far no one (well at least not JM) had ever seen a copy of. So come on you Rare Soul Sherlock Holmes of this world...get your heads working! ..or sit back relax and wait till thursday

good call. was thinking somethings similar although it could also be sth that was LP-only so far or a another case of a Frankie Beverly ROUSER /Fairmount situation. Or a one-off acetate where someone found a real 45 (Esther Grant ? ) Also would include Junior McCants as a possibility knowing that there is one other copy still around which hasnt yet surfaced as far as I know....I mean, not really many possibilities left since he auctioned the Frank Williams, Antellects, Andantes, Del-Larks, Inticers, Eddie Parker, Gogate 45s, the Shrine cataloge. etc etc ...at a guess JM must have seen or even autcioned almost every other rare Northern Soul record in the past ?
  13. have to disagree here mate, its too late. They should have done so a few years back already...if they dont have collections full of high end items that is. Personally I dont know anybody who did built up a collection as an investment, sure there will be some though. Talked to two very good friends of mine, one in his fifties the other in his sixties. Both told me they give a f**k about values and prices, they wont sell, there life would loose an essential part if they would
  14. hi Dave, actually I in fact cant name them all...not even everyone in Berlin let alone Germany or Europe in general. And I am not talking about buying people, I am talking about deejaying people as that what is what the headline of this thread asked for. If we talk about new young and collecting people, oh my, it must be hundreds out there. In the last weeks alone I had "record dealing" contacts with a handful of totally new to me (German) names. Just for example. I agree with you in general though, there will still be a scene, there will still be ovo venues and the emphasis will be the same as now..but prices WILL go down in the long run. 10 to 200 GBP 45s are already almost unsellable if not currently indemand or "hot", the only things fetching still big money are the so called big ticket 45s everybody seems to chase. But that will cool down as well me thinks once the handful of big boys (and girls) have done their 45 wants . In fact the (price) situation is pretty much what I thought it would be like ten years + ago already...only that thankfully theres a lot more new young faces around which is brilliant!
  15. once you start thinking about it....here`s a few more names dropped Helena (Sweden) Johan Tollgerdt (Sweden) Ludde (Sweden) Sami (Finland) S¶ren (Denmark) Niklas (Denmark) Tomasso (Italy) Sebastian Gerstung (Germany)
  16. Markus Sichter (Berlin) Max Kunze (Dresden) Alex Salvo (Dresden) Henning Boogaloo (Switzerland) Howie Paris (Dessau) Matt Fox (Cologne) Kevin Flipclip (Berlin) Martin (Berlin) Alfredo (Italy) Callum (UK) Liam and Gary (IRE/UK) Kian Nawim (Berlin) ...just about a few from the top of my head. All aged between mid twenties and start of their thirties, most of them (esp. the German dudes) relatively fresh "on the scene" and all up for it in the only right way, the real way. Future looks good if you ask me.
  17. good job, esp. nice to see the vinyl being green. IMO.. Marc

  20. Hi Bob, not only Sam, quite some DJ`s had and continue to have it in their box and sets since a good few years. I sold my copy set sale
  21. I think so Chalky, at least one of the happy people who got a copy back then once told me that Mr Roberts told him that these were his only and final copies..
  22. If it helps you, I sold one the other week for 400 UKP.
  23. you know that I really hate to disagree with you mate, but tims copy went in his auction around summer last year and it was over 2 K.
  24. you are right Ted, I mixed that up with the copy one certain DJ sold when he was selling up...that was the amount his copy sold for.
  25. Hi ted, if you are on about the copy he had last year it went for sth like 2.5 / 2.8 K if I remember correctly. Not to me, it stayed in the UK..
