Shrewsbury Northern Soul Night
Last event before Summer recess, a highly successful start to this venue's 17th year of Soul music of an essentially Northern and modern crossover fashion. Always well attended and always a must to make arrival an early one as seating is soon taken up, very busy dancefloor all night and a well stocked and relatively cheap bar to keep people's thirst quenched. Great tunes harking back to the golden era of Twisted Wheel, Golden Torch, Catacombs, Blackpool Mecca and Wigan casino as well as TOTW Stafford, Kings Hall etc....something for everyone!!😉👍🎵💃🕺🎶 Plenty of hotel accomodation at hand, and within a 10 minute drive, for those thinking of a stopover, certainly well worth it, as is the visit to Shropshire's best kept secret: THE CHURCH. All welcome, be you regulars or first timers, a great night out, friend folk and atmosphere and a great dancefloor!

GRUMPY SOUL TAKE OVER @ CULCHETH MAY 3rd
Like Mick said, see if we get at least a clutch of playlists?, would be very nice...understandable if folk are still giving their head a good shake, almost 24 hours on and maybe just about easing the lethargy from their frames!, the dancefloor really did take off....even the tasty supper treats from Village Pizza were forgone, so knackered were we after that humungous session😲🤣 so many stand out tunes and lots of Detroit recordings in there...picks for me off the top of my head, were the Versatones, the instrumental backing track to Sam Ward's " Sister Lee" and Carl also played a tune by ( i think he said ) Geno Washington " Soul Baby "?...big faves Delegates Of Soul and Rudy Love got the treatment. Soul Sam playing " Backstabbers " off a 12", the modern room got quite busy as the evening wore on too.....hope everyone has been happy enough with the pics...did do some video clips as well but, refused to upload on here....have to catch em on the Culcheth page😉👍

GRUMPY SOUL TAKE OVER @ CULCHETH MAY 3rd
Spot on what you say!, was totally shattered after last night, hadn't danced so much for ages, in between trying to take some pics that summed it up. Evenso, and with it being a packer, still quite a good few familiar faces missing for whatever reason?, deffo concur it was a night not to be missed and the November date should be another special one!😉👍

GRUMPY SOUL TAKE OVER @ CULCHETH MAY 3rd
Perhaps we have a concensus of opinion now that this weekend's event is going to be not just a cracker, but a packer!, and the weather is looking pretty good too. Certainly hoping that those intent on travelling are taking up the option of a stopover as there are more than adequate facilities within 10 mins of the venue. All in all, it more than promises to be a special occasion, and looking forward to it immensely!😉👍

BLUE ROSE SOUL
A wonderful afternoon and evening of music for the crowd who attended, could've been better in that respect but then folks do still work, even pensioners!, nevertheless a big THANKYOU to all who came along and took in a fabulous selection of music from 10 purveyors of quality tunes, a good sprinkling on the rare stuff amongst the sets and lots new to the ear as well..a big UP👍 To Don Forbes and Dave Stubbs for getting the event on and slme decent sound equipment to boot!, and the obligatory informative right here to try and entice people out, as always. Shrewsbury has a pretty long and feserved reputation for soul events in the country, as does Shropshire on the whole and has had a fair shared of outstanding venues over the decades..the message and emphasis on that is still very important even now. A Big thanks to ALL the lads who deejayed listed above, and special thanks to Steve Thomas and Lydia for making a pretty arduous trip from Anglesey amongst all the returning holiday makers and their caravans, to get to the Claremont, get settled and then the man delivers an outstanding set in his inimitable fashion...brilliant!. Hopefully this occasional gig will have another date coming up soon, definitely entertaining and worth paying a visit here for that fact alone.😉👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
