100 - 125 is a fair price for this - same with John Bowie

That Eddie Foster looks good to me but according to John Manships pressings book "original matrix read IN - 6311 "I NEVER KNEW" - counterfeit reads IN 6311A

    Sent you a PM Mikey
  4. Mike that acetate of Thumb A Ride is definitely Simon Soussan/Soul Fox Strings, but it's not a version that was ever released. Completely different to any I ever heard before.
  5. Kinnel Sean, elsewhere in this post I said I had 2 copies of the human beinz and I'd give you one for nothing...

No sorry John you are wrong this time, if that was the case, that Walter & Admirations would have sold for 10 quid last month, that sold because of 1) rarity, 2) demand and then 3) condition. I don't know what it is about this forum but every time you and I meet up or speak on the phone we always seem to get along like a house on fire yet on here it's pistols at dawn all the time!

You're making a show of yourself trying to be clever. Nobody has got QUANTITY of them but they regularly sell on Ebay for between 500 and 1000 dollars and have done in the 6 or 7 years I've been using Ebay. 500 would be a below average condition copy but it's a fact. A copy will turn up almost every month. That does not make it a rare record. That Mr Lucky record I sold for 2500 earlier this year, whats that, a five known copy record? Yet the Cashmeres is worth only 500 quid less despite their being a couple of hundred copies in the UK? Now you've got Chalky also telling you it's not that rare so try taking the piss out of him.

They do. I buy and sell records every day of every year. Despite what you may think, I do know what I'm talking about some of the time.
  9. It's the other side...

Nobodys saying they've got them at 500, I said I wouldn't pay more than 500 because of the amount of copies there are around and also because I don't want to pay more than 500. If you think 1900 quid is a bargain then you've obviously got more money than sense.
  11. You can be 100% sure if it's got that delta number.
  12. I Can Take Care Of Myself is still my favourite especially as it's one of those records you can have a really good singalong to whilst doing mundane household chores like hoovering the dog.
  13. Not good enough is it. Well it didn't make his reserve anyway.

I know what you mean but I'm still not really hearing it that way!
  15. Well I've asked him whats in the run off so see if he replies. Wonder if any of our mates in Australia know the seller?
  16. Well most - not all, but most - originals of this are on styrene, and that one isn't - it looks like the boot. The styrene ones are from Monarch in L.A. so they have a delta number not a bell Sound stamp.
  17. Looks a bit like the reissue to me, look at the edges of the label, quite rough in parts...what does anyone else reckon? https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/The-Yum-Yums-Gonna-B...1QQcmdZViewItem

I can't hear any funk in Broadway Cissy at all...which bit?? The drum break in the middle?
  19. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
That one also sprung off the page as it regularly goes on ebay for between 500 and 1000 dollars...f*cking great record though, don't think I'd pay more than 500 quid for it
  20. Nobody mentioned Flower Shoppe - You've Come A Long Way Baby, which was the second biggest record on the label northern wise. The biggest was undoubtedly My Man A Sweet Man by Millie Jackson. There's a nice double sider by Little Eva Harris, Get Ready / Mr. Everything.
  21. Just wanted to mention something, I post a list on here maybe once a week, I get asked for records most days after the list is posted but basically, it goes out to my mailing list either the day before or a few hours before it goes up on here, so while this might sound like a shameless plug for people to join the mailing list to get the lists early (just email me or pm me and I'll sign you up), it's also to ask people not to be arsey with me when I tell them I sold the records 2 weeks earlier like someone was yesterday! Sometimes I haven't got time to keep going back and writing 'sold' next to things, as far as I'm concerned, a list only lasts for one day and anything unsold gets reduced next time. Anyway next weeks list has, among others: pookie hudson, soul bros 6, earl grant, astors, tina florence, gino washington, dena barnes, wilson pickett, eddie holman, 5th dimension, porgy & monarchs, tiny watkins, sapphires, del vikings, magnificents, esther phillips, drifters, milton wright, ray & dave, hank jacobs wd, and whatever else arrives...

OK what happened was, the week before last in the HMV sale they had these funk double cd's for 4.99 each so I bought all 4 volumes, and I realised after about 3 tracks it was just sailing over my head apart from the ones I already knew so it's just a case of either getting it or not getting it. They all sounded the same, which is what a lot of people say about reggae. Of course I know they are not all shit, it's just a stock answer. I used to love some of the funky northern sounds like Wrong Crowd, My Hang Up Is You and so on.

I thought the question was what do people think of funk music, I think it's shit, so I say so. On the other hand, I loved the early jungle stuff - albeit 2 years late. Hate drum and bass though. Dan's right. Anyone who expresses a different opinion on here is usually told a) they have no taste they have a modicum of taste but it's nowhere near as good as other peoples and they are too stupid to understand the music and that's why they don't like it...not because the music is dull and boring in their opinion. James I could play you what I think is the best rocksteady record in the world and there's a good chance you'd think it's terrible, but so what, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I hear something and I decide whether I like it or not, thats how it works, I don't like funk, or modern soul, or country and western, or rave music, or most classical music. So what?

What's that supposed to mean Del, seeing as a good 70% of all my records are by Jamaicans?

    It's sh*t
