  1. One song I just can't listen to is The Long And Winding Road by The Beatles. Makes me think of my daughter and brings everything back...too much for me to handle...so if ever it comes on the cd, radio etc it goes straight off.
  2. Yeah that's definitely what my grandad used to do, and he even used to pretend to cry himself, the rotten old git
  3. When we were very young, at Xmas my grandad used to have a drink and then start singing the little boy that santa claus forgot...it still makes me want to cry now...though he doesn't sing it any more, he's dead
  4. Thanks Benji. I did think it was real once I saw the stamps.
  5. In my case it was definitely because I didn't want to make comments about prices on the same thread as the records for sale so I took it away. The Ellusions and Ringleaders were certainly too expensive and both were discussed elsewhere. But I think maybe it was better to move it away from the sales section as it hasn't really caused any trouble (I hope)
  6. Right, so to summarise, it's a RARE SECOND PRESS FROM 1973, VERY RARE LABEL DESIGN, £50
  7. It's not been dinked mate, it's a normal import type centre
  8. No it's not, but this is a "rare alternative label design" and in fact it's just gone up to £40
  9. It's going to be at least £30, I've never seen one and it doesn't look like many others have!
  10. This one's got me flummoxed! Looks like a legit white demo. In the run off 45-111 GRC/* and LW, like on Moses Smith (Dionn) What you reckon?
  11. Gareth, I'd guess it was promoted on the strength of the title of the other side...Legend Of Otis Redding.
  12. Does anyone know if this design is rarer than the pale blue one...I don't remember seeing this one before..any help appreciated
  13. the feelings mutual
  14. It's not a UK export mate. It does have UK stampers, you are correct, but it's definitely W.I. vinyl. Not sure why they would prepare the stampers in the UK, but I've also got Jamaican Pama records with UK stampers and also a record on King Edwards with a UK Island stamper mark. Also it says West Indies so we're only presuming it came from Jamaica. This copy came from The Philippines, today.

    £200-£250
  16. No anonymous buyers, sorry....otherwise, yes.
  17. OK I've got a copy for sale now, £200 or thereabouts, any advance on £200?
  18. Course it's not a reissue, if it comes out simultaneously in different parts of the world, it's a new release everywhere!
  19. See I'd have gone higher than the Bo-Ro one. Sold my last one of that for 150, I'd havre thought this Stateside has got to be worth at least 200-225.
  20. Cos I'm pretty certain I never saw it before...how do you value something like this?
  21. PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0BL Pete.smith@freeuk.com 01902 893569 SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT... Hi Everyone First of all, can I just thank everyone who sent congratulations on the birth of baby Sammy, over 100 emails, thank you so much - we read every one and it really touched us that so many people would bother to email, so thanks again. OK well the long awaited delivery of records mentioned in the last mail out has arrived. This is the big lot - a tremendous collection - and I have been struggling to come up with a way of making it fair for everyone to get a chance at the records. For instance, I've had over 20 people ask me to reserve the Four Perfections for them...how do I let one person have it and how do I chose the person? So this is what I am going to do. I am going to enclose a list of the records which I believe to be worth £100 and over. If anyone is interested in anything, they can make me an offer over the weekend and on Monday morning. If the records reach my reserve, which will remain private but you know me and I'm pretty fair when it comes to prices, they will be sold to the highest bidder. If they don't make the reserve or they are not asked about, they will appear (or some of them will appear) on the first of the set sale lists at 2pm on Monday ok. Is this fair? I hope so. I will do several set sales over the next few weeks and will probably do them alphabetically by artist. There are a few rules and instructions this time so if you could bear with me: if you pay by credit card or by paypal there will be a 4% charge. I will not tell anyone what anyone else has bid on a record. I will reveal the reserve price privately but not the top bids. If you are reading this on Soul Source: you will not see the set sale lists until 2 hours after I have sent them to my mailing list people, so if you want to get it the second it comes out, please join the mailing list (you can always leave later!) Please go here and follow the instructions https://www.raresoul.co.uk/home.htm There are several hundred records below £100 and some tremendous titles but just for now, it's the more expensive ones. Everything is in excellent condition unless stated otherwise. Email me or phone if you want to ask about specific conditions or hear anything. Email me at pete.smith@freeuk.com if you have any offers PLEASE DO NOT PHONE ME TO MAKE OFFERS, thanks HOLLY ST. 22. Yeah the demos are the old style decca demos. Gene McDaniels - well maybe more, it's just a tough record to sell in my experience, I certainly wouldn't ask more than that for an issue, I would for a demo. Theres no way the Victors is £150...great record and the b side is great as well Mark
  23. There is no curved Decca copy of John E Paul on issue Mace. It's boxed but the matrix is inverted (upside down) on the original. Ike & Tina Turner I'd have said £40. Victors about £80. Gene McDaniels about the same. Heatherton is a reissue, Clinton a UK new release at the time, £5 each.
  24. Someone has one of these over in sales at 500 quid. Why????
