Really Bizarre Covers Of Northern Tracks
You know I collect reggae/rocksteday whatever, it's really amazing at some of the songs they did oin the 60's and early 70's, for instance this week I've had a female version of Compared To What and a 68 reggae version of Chuck Jackson's Good Things Come To Those Who Wait! Wouldn't have thought either of those was well known enough to cover. Also got Jamaican versions of things like Walking up a one way street, Left with a broken heart, See no evil speak no evil, Get ready, etc. Just thought I'd mention it.

Top Ten Rnb Crossover
- Betty Boo "say It Isn't So"
If you cast your mind back 2 weeks to my BRILLIANT whats the best unreleased track ever thread, it was indeed Betty Boo which I nomiated in the first posting. She was definitely one of the Adorables. Got played the same couple of weeks as Hanky Panky by Popcorn Wylie. They hit us with too many newies in too short a space of time.- Top Ten Rnb Crossover
Hurrah! I've been saying this for years and years and no one has ever agreed with me!!!- Top Ten Rnb Crossover
I don't get this. The following records were classed as Northern before anyone had associated the term R & B with this scene: I Can't Please You - Jimmy Robins I Can't Get Enough - Johnny Sayles Sweeter Than The Day Before - The Valentinos What Good Am I - Mickey Champion The Champion - Willie Mitchell The Valentinos is about as out-and-out northern as you can get. The Champion, r & b? Load of bollocks...- And There's More
He does that mate, he does that...- And There's More
I have decided to list over a thousand records that I have sold in the past, there is no point to this but look out for it so you can see what great records I had- 4 Vandalls
Sorry, I meant yes. Well sort of. I've got a couple of records he did but no scanner.- 4 Vandalls

I'm looking forward to this do on saturday- Blackmail Corner: Dave Rimmer
I have it on good authority and it's 100% definite that Mr Rimmer will be djing OFF CD'S at a certain gig this saturday. I shall take the camera and make sure I get evidence- Roy Hamilton - Reach Out For Me
Might be on a Stardust 45- Cleethorpes; Jacket Found
You sure it didn't fit- If It Was All To End
Hang on a bit - there must be a fair few of us on here who've actually done this - I wasn't on my own at the last night of Wigan...if I were to do it again I'd keep Tobi Legend and Dean Parrish, get rid of that Godawful gerri Granger record, smash the Jimmy Radcliffe record and replace it with John & The Weirdest or Garnet Mimms Looking For You. It'd have to be Wigan, nothing to touch it since.- If It Was All To End
I'd like it to have been Blackpool Mecca and the last record The Carstairs - it really hurts me girl. No on second thoughts, I'd rather drink a pint of tramps vomit.- Jesse Davis Cover Up
F*ck knows. Don't like it meself...- Barons Of Soul - You Need Love
Greg sez...The various cuts came from a dealer in philly a few years back. i have 3 different takes, butch might own the acetate and good luck to him but nobody needs his permission. It has been played out by loads of dj's inc Guy Hennigan and others- Barons Of Soul - You Need Love
Doesn't look as if I'm allowed to post anything until it's had clearance from Chalky :graynone:- Barons Of Soul - You Need Love
I thought he was saying it's a slower take of the track that Butch paid huge money for???- Barons Of Soul - You Need Love
Obviously not. I refer you to Greg's actual email Chalky -----Original Message----- From: McAllinney, Greg [mailto:gmcallinney@] Sent: 09 June 2005 16:23 To: 'pete smith' Subject: RE: barons of soul pete when you get a spare mo could you post up the Barons Of Soul on Soul-source. I have a few people asking for it on cd but i ain't got a cd burner. They can download it from SS themselves. If you ain't got time then no worries, this is the slower take (i have 3 takes) that butch paid huge money for. greg - Betty Boo "say It Isn't So"
