Anyone Know Any Other Records Like This..?
Right well I've found some of the Rickyroots compilations: volumes 5 to 12, 14 to 44. Don't know what happened to volumes 1 to 4 and volume 13. There are between 600 and 900 tracks on each disc. Also found Rasdragon volumes 6 to 11 but each track is in a separate folder and it's a pain to open them in the end. You sure you want to get into this if so PM me an address and I'll send you some.

Yeah absolutely - well it is as far as I'm concerned. The stuff that followed the first wave of reggae in 1970, all babylon and rasta and watered down music, can't stand it. The discs I mentioned, I think they are actually DVD discs containing mp3's - I know the one set ("Rickyroots") I must have 20+ volumes of that and then there was another series, can't remember what that was called, but there's about the same amount. I remember trying to go through these and I would say 95% never made it past the first drum roll intro I promise I'll go and look for these this afternoon, you can borrow them and send them back if you ever finish going through them. For anyone who likes 70's reggae, they must be the dogs bollocks, for me, they were just bollocks...

In English please?

They are often just 'trailers' though, I've seen loads of trailers where clips never actually appear in the film. But if someone's spinning on their back...that's just plain daft and unnecessary.

Moniques - Don't Throw Stones (At My Heart) Centaur
Dunno but I couldn't give it away, and like you say, I think I got £20 for it in the end. Fortunately I didn't pay anything for it but I've lost count of the times I've seen records highly priced in the guide, took a chance on it, and lost money, now I always check on Popsike just to see if one actually has gone though at that price.

I've got a set of something like 20+ discs of 70's and early 80's reggae, there must be a good 6 or 7000 tracks, if I can find them you can have them and see what you can find, I can't bear to listen to this sort of reggae, it's like elevator music when you're used to ska/rocksteady/early reggae. There's a few trojan compilations featuring this sort of reggae also. Off the top of my head, this is the best one I can think of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0Cp9AsOfcg&feature=related

Wonder who's singing that version of On A Magic Carpet Ride?

First Showing Of The Movie "soulboy"
I wasn't there so why would I tell people I was there? And if it's shit, I'll say it's shit, I'm surprised you think I wouldn't, but I'm afraid there's the slight problem of me not having seen it yet so I can't give a verdict on it. I couldn't give a toss about what the marketing team are up to, it's got nothing to do with the film, what sort of shennanigans go on witjh Hollywood films, I don't know and I don't care. Bottom line is, as has been said so many times, only the people who've seen it really have the right to give a verdict on it. The fact that someone claps out of time isn't going to stop me watching it.

How come you're not BIG anymore?

First Showing Of The Movie "soulboy"
Why don't you make your own film and show us all how it should be done instead of slagging of someone else's hard work? That goes for all of you slagging it off without even having seen it, you're pathetic.

First Showing Of The Movie "soulboy"
What a f*cking ridiculous statement, I like films set in the 70's, it reminds me of some very happy times, I'm looking forward to seeing this, Christ what could be better than a film with a Northern Soul soundtrack?

PETE SMITH 4 BLAKELEY HEATH DRIVE WOMBOURNE WV5 0HW Pete.smith@freeuk.com 01902 326306 MOBILE – CAN YOU TAKE DOWN A NEW NUMBER, MIGHT ONLY BE TEMPORARY, I’LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT CHANGES 07772 616402, IT’S TIL I GET MY IPHONE FIXED YOU CAN HEAR MOST OF THESE TRACKS ON YESTERDAY’S PODCAST https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/24755 ERNESTINE ANDERSON – YOU’RE NOT THE GUY FOR ME – SUE EX 50 Stunning beat ballad MARJORIE BLACK – ONE MORE HURT – SUE EX 70 Can’t believe nobody bought this last week so here it is again! THE ENTERTAINERS IV – GETTIN’ BACK INTO CIRCULATION – DORE EX 75 SOLD Great underplayed oldie using the “Doctor Love” backing – and with the great “My Garden Of Eden” on the B side FIRST CHOICE – THIS IS THE HOUSE (WHERE LOVE DIED) – SCEPTER DEMO EX 40 SOLD Very rare on a demo copy THE GYPSIES – IT’S A WOMAN’S WORLD – OLD TOWN DEMO VG+ 95 This one looks a bit worn but plays superbly, just one or two minor pops, perfect for dj-ing and NOT a trashed record. Bit of biro on label. CINDY GIBSON – I’LL ALWAYS LOVE YOU – GENERAL EX 35 Great oldie BILLY KEENE – WISHING AND HOPING – VAULT EX 60 SOLD Fantastic track and way, way rarer on this label than on Paula – in fact I don’t remember having it on Vault before STEVE KARMEN BIG BAND - PONTIAC BREAKAWAY THEME (HAVE A READ OF THIS) EX 60 SOLD This must be one of the rarest and unusual records I’ve ever had. A vinyl. 33rpm single featuring on side one “Breakaway Theme Big Band Jazz Rock”. The Breakaway theme is in fact the record we know as Steve Karmen Big Band and this is it’s first incarnation, on an advertising record made especially for Pontiac dealers. It’s the full instrumental version. The rest of the tracks are variations on the theme and short adverts on the B side. No vocal version I’m afraid but what an unusual rarity – only seen one other copy and that was on Soul Source. LIZ LANDS – MIDNIGHT JOHNNY – GORDY WHITE DEMO EX- 60 Has a couple of marks on the vinyl, plays perfectly, lovely white demo KETTY LESTER – SOME THINGS ARE BETTER LEFT UNSAID – RCA EX 40 Now an oldie I think THE LEWIS SISTERS – YOU NEED ME – GERMAN TAMLA MOTOWN w/pic sleeve M 100 SOLD This one’s a real stunner and you probably won’t see another in a long, long time. German Tamla Motown which is nice enough, black and silver label in pristine nick, but this one has a tremendous picture sleeve of The lewis Sisters, billed here as “The Singing Schoolteachers”, one sister sat playing a guitar while the other stands behind her, presumably singing. Tiny little tear on the edge and afeint stamp otherwise beautiful. EMANUEL LASKY – LUCKY TO BE LOVED (BY YOU) – WILD DEUCE EX 40 SOLD At last, a really nice copy, these are usually always trashed GENE McDANIELS – WALK WITH A WINNER – LIBERTY EX+ 85 SOLD Stunning stock copy TONY MIDDLETON – TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH – MGM DEMO EX+ 150 One small non-sounding mark, otherwise plays mint TOMMY NAVARRO – I CRIED MY LIFE AWAY – DE JAC VG++ 70 Has some fading on the edge of the vinyl which makes a ‘swoosh’ before the record starts, otherwise a fine copy, hear it in the podcast if you’re unsure POSSE – EVIL – JANUS DEMO EX 70 Cracking later Wigan oldie, has minor cue burn on the very first note, I mean a split second barely worth mentioning THE POPPIES – THERE’S A PAIN IN MY HEART – EPIC DEMO EX 75 SOLD All time classic, rare oldie WARREN STORM – THE BAD TIMES MAKE THE GOOD TIMES – PIC 1 EX+ 40 Very nice midtempo sound THE WONDERETTES – I FEEL STRANGE – RUBY VG 20 Bit crackly on the intro hence grade WALTER & SISTERS – HOW LONG – STUDIO 10 EX+ 90 SOLD Very good 70’s dancer, the white label has a few age spots but apart from that, great copy and very elusive POSTAGE 2.00 RECORDED. SPECIAL DELIVERY 6.00 PAYMENT BY CARD, BANK TRANSFER, PAYPAL (THERE'S A CHARGE FOR THIS SORRY), CHEQUE, CASH. THANKS FOR READING.

The Cream Of Jamaican Rocksteady
https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/24760 As it says in the title - these tracks represent the very best in Rocksteady music, a short-lived but incredibly influential sub-genre of Jamaican music. Rocksteady evolved from the much faster Ska music in 1966 and only last around 18 months until Reggae emerged in 1968, but during that brief period, some of the greatest and most soulful music ever made was emanating from the studios of Treasure Isle, Caltone, Studio One and countless others. Hopefully this will be one of the best introductions to Rocksteady that you'll find.................... THE JAMAICANS - BABA BOOM / ALTON ELLIS - SHAKE IT / PRINCE BUSTER - TOO HOT / THE PARAGONS - WEAR YOU TO THE BALL / ALTON ELLIS - GIRL I'VE GOT A DATE / DERRICK MORGAN - KILL ME DEAD / NORA DEAN - BARBWIRE / THE TECHNIQUES - IT'S YOU I LOVE / ALTON ELLIS - AIN'T THAT LOVING YOU / THE TECHNIQUES - QUEEN MAJESTY / THE PARAGONS - ON THE BEACH / DENNIS ALCAPONE - NUMBER ONE STATION / THE SENSATIONS - THOSE GUYS / LYNN TAIT - WAY OF LIFE / THE TECHNIQUES - YOU DON'T CARE / THE PARAGONS - ONLY A SMILE / PHYLLIS DILLON - DON'T STAY AWAY / PHYLLIS DILLON - PERFIDIA / ALTON ELLIS - ROCK STEADY / DERRICK HARRIOTT - THE LOSER / DERRICK HARRIOTT - WALK THE STREETS / THE MELODIANS - SWING AND DINE / THE ETHIOPIANS - THE WHIP / KEITH & TEX - TONIGHT / THE TECHNIQUES - LOVE IS NOT A GAMBLE
