  1. No, quite the opposite, I thought they were going to be but all of the singles were 60's soul and beat, obviously from a different source than the lp's.
  2. No singles I'm afraid, just LP's
  3. Yes, 60/70. I'll give you 60.
  4. Well I'd just like to say "thanks for listening" to be honest, thought I was going to get some stick for this for including UK records like Emma Rede, John Andrews, but as I said, I fancied doing something a bit different. The Dee Dee Sharp record is one of my all time favourites. Though the Jim Webb version of I Need You has an apalling vocal, no wonder he had greater success as a songwriter than as a singer!

In the case of Sue - yes, it was on the release sheets, in the case of Jayboy, I've never even heard this rumour before let alone heard of a copy!
  6. https://planetrecords.podbean.com/2009/03/1...osities-part-1/ Welcome to a new podcast - I think this is my first one this year! Sorry for letting things go slack but we had a baby in November so I have had less and less time to spend on the computer. Anyway, I'm going to do a series of new podcasts with a slightly different them, and I hope some of you will enjoy them. All tracks are taken from UK label 45's and are predomanently Northern Soul but will include British produced records as well as the usual American ones, so there will be Northern, Pop Stompers, Beat Ballads, Slowies, and maybe even a little Doo-Wop. I honestly don't want to catagorise them so I'm calling this series PETE'S CABINET OF CURIOSITIES. If you're interested in 100% real soul podcasts, I've done loads of those and they are still available, this time I just wanted to do something a little different. Anyway, here is the track list for Part 1. BARBARA LEWIS - MAKE ME YOUR BABY (ATLANTIC) / BARBARA MILLS - TRY (HICKORY) / BRUCE SCOTT - I MADE AN ANGEL CRY (MERCURY) / CONNIE FRANCIS - NO BETTER OFF (MGM) / DEE DEE SHARP - I REALLY LOVE YOU (CAMEO PARKWAY) / DENNIS D'ELL - BETTER USE YOUR HEAD (CBS) / EDWIN BEE - CALL FOR MY BABY (DECCA) / EMMA REDE - I GOTTA BE WITH YOU (COLUMBIA) / ETTA JAMES - ALL I COULD DO WAS CRY (LONDON) / GENE LATTER - WAYS (CBS) / GEORGE JACKSON - MY DESIRES ARE GETTING THE BETTER OF ME (CAPITOL) / GLADYS KNIGHT & THE PIPS - LOVERS ALWAYS FORGIVE (STATESIDE) / IKE & TINA TURNER - EVERY DAY I HAVE TO CRY (A & M) / JIM WEBB - I NEED YOU (CBS) / JIMMY JAMES & THE VAGABONDS - I FEEL ALRIGHT (PICCADILLY) / JOHN ANDREWS & THE LONELY ONES - IT'S JUST LOVE (PARLOPHONE) / LAVERN BAKER - TINY TIM (LONDON) / LESLEY LANGLEY - NEW YORK (POLYDOR) / OTIS REDDING - LOOK AT THAT GIRL (ATCO) / PEANUT - HOME OF THE BRAVE (PYE) / ROBB STORME & THE TEMPESTS - SHY GUY (PYE) / THE SOUL PURPOSE - HUMMIN' (ISLAND) / STEVIE KIMBLE - ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD (DECCA) / THE JET SET - YOU GOT ME HOOKED (PARLOPHONE) / THE KEYS - GO GET HER (CBS) / JERRY BUTLER - GIVING UP ON LOVE (STATESIDE) / TONY KEELING - IT'S A CRYING SHAME (PYE) / GLEN MILLER - WHERE IS THE LOVE (DOCTOR BIRD) / ZUIDER ZEE - PEACE OF MIND (CBS)

I think I've got the Bobby Davis Denis but it's rock n roll? Good luck with the Jayboy one.
  11. I have a black and silver tri centre Fontana copy of "Let's Go Baby / Barefootin" but I can't be arsed to scan it. From the same shop I bought 2 copies of that Susan Singer "Bobbys loving touch", they were on a red label but can't remember the name of it. Not Oriole like here though.
  12. Don't know I'm afraid, just saw it on ebay
  13. Definitely?? Thanks! UK band? US band? There was a release on UK capitol I think.
  14. Thats a different label mate, thats NEMS you are talking about I believe. p.s. you want those records from yesterday still?

I'd start going out again if they'd just mix it up a bit - yes play the oldies, but for goodness sake, drop some lesser knowns, newies, anything in to make it not sound like it's a Northern Soul Greatest Hits package. And I do know lots of people try to do this and have tried to do it but for some reason, it just doesn't stick.
  17. Saw this collection on friday, took all the singles but there were about 500 albums, the majority where what I presume is called Jazz Fusion - CTI label, Ronnie Laws, sorry my brain has gone empty but nearly all were from 1969 to 1974 by the looks of it. Anyway because I didn't know anything about them, I left them, but if anyone thinks they might be interested, I'll give you the lead for a backhander

Yes that makes sense, Big T was a Transatlantic label spin off and they were almost 100% folk.

Ah well...in that case, maybe Diggers should tell us who it is, one of us might know them and be able to 'have a word'
