Don't worry Godz, I remember Where Is Beatle Band, I think it was a constant thread in Record Mirrors letters pages though and it was the early 80's.
  4. Al De Lory - Right On - probably 1 and a half seconds

Just to say, enjoyed the film, not as much as Dreamgirls but I think I was on my own there, the main characters Muddy Waters and Leonard Chess were excellently played, but the guy playing Howling Wolf stole the show. There were some silly historical accuracies e.g. footage on a tv set supposedly in 1964 shows a 1956 Elvis playing at the Louisiana Hayride but with a versioin of My Babe from the late 60's dubbed on top...and I also ended up fast forwarding a couple of Beyonce/Etta James numbers. So it felt more like a long tv movie to me but they certainly captured the feel of the period and I think you'll probably all enjo it. And why not..
  6. Dennis Alcapone I think...well he certainly made a record with that title

    Yes
  8. This may well be the link, best tell the missus she is in for some serious clapping https://planetrecords.podbean.com/2007/09/2...t-wigan-casino/
  9. Mark somewhere - it might be on my own website?? There's about 30 minutes of that tape and including Panic, Wombat, FOOTSEE (the different version) and it's still the best Casino tape ever. Credit to Al Davidson for taping it mind. Let me try and find it
  10. Oh - as for whether the book is any good - yes, of course, if you're into record labels and minutae about them, if not, then probably a waste of time, I mean once they'd gone on to the pink Islands there wasn't much left to read about for me personally
  11. Bugger, I'm so thick sometimes, I've got this book, bought it directly off the author in Russia, it has every conceivable label variation and all of the album covers as far as I can remember. Jo if you want to borrow it, no problem.

Neither. You just have to know where to get these things from
  13. Thats a true story but the figures are wrong, I don't think he got any OIAM which would make sense seeing as it never got into the shops but he did get a few YCMI. My mate Gary White got me one using the same method, though he did live in Barrow. He actually worked with the songwriter of YCMI, Dave McGerty, who was a security guard at the Vickers establishment. Come to think of it, it was me who put D McG in touvh with Goldmine to get the record reissued, did I get a thank you, did I b*llocks
  14. Here we go...if this doesn't send a shiver down the spine then nothing well..then again, I've got the flu so I've got a permanent shiver down my spine https://www.soul-source.co.uk/rare-northern...no-74-live-tape

Don Varner is a boot and so is Joe Hicks and so is James Bounty
  17. That was an early 80's reissue I think, they did 4 or 5 of them.
  18. Funnily enough - I remember seeing an ad in Black Music for (I think) the Casino and they listed several of their top sounds including Lebanon Strings!
  19. I didn't know about it - would love to hear it
  20. I noticed the prices had been dropping which is why I sold mine so cheap, but to be honest I really needed the money so under normal circumstances it would have been more. Also, it only cost me 60 quid I think which is why I was happy to make 40 on it. I would have thought the Atlantic one is rarer though.
  21. I sold one on here last year, can't remember how much now, was for someone else.
  22. The Treasure Isle stock bags you mention I presume are the same ones that were used for Doctor Bird, Pyramid and Rio (2nd design) Jo? Brown and cream splodges? p.s. you mean Planetone of course
  23. There's no company bags Jo. I've bought unplayed old stock and they're in plain white sleeves. I don't think I've got any of these LP's anymore but there's a shagged copy of the Jackie & Millie sleeve on the wall of Oldies Unlimited in Wolverhampton
