  1. Yes commented on that when I saw it was in the 7" listings. Yet you'll get people swear they've seen it!
  2. It must have been on ebay for a year now https://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-ILLEGAL-RELEASE-O...t=1218648761527
  3. It wasn't that funny at the time...woke up with tubes sticking out of everywhere, Mom & Dad at the bedside, I've never been so embarrassed Well I have but you know what I mean..
  4. £370 for Kenny Lynch...knock the £300 off maybe...
  5. That means finding issue 7 of Black Music folks...which I just did...and the B side is not listed
  6. 6902 doesn't exist...
  7. Thats an interesting avatar you've got there - I sold a copy of that LP on ebay 2 weeks back, I don't think I'd seen it before, now I've seen two in a fortnight!
  8. June 1974 - "Over in the States, completely unnoticed in the Hot Stuff section was a new release on GSF by the Anderson Brothers entitled I Can See Him Loving You. Twelve months later it was big everywhere, impossible to find, and remains a classic today." pete smith 1988
  9. It was definitely on the release sheets printed in Black Music - in that gigantic article I did (on Black Music) I noted the month and year, I'll try and find it. But I don't think anyone has ever seen one.
  10. It's a great track but it's common not rare, in the UK anyway
  11. But people don't use them as guides per se, they use them as some kind of price bible!
  12. The reason no-one can get the prices is because a) there's less money about and the bottom end of the market has all but collapsed. This week I've sold 1 x 125 quid 1 x 100 quid 1 x 75 quid 1 x 55 quid I've sold no 5, 10, 15 quid records. £355 not bad for 3 days work people say, but obviously I had to pay for them in the first place, around £200, by the end of this week I may have made 200/250 profit which is about what the average wage is I think.
  13. OK someone else tot them up then...
  14. I make it about 16 against vs 6 definitely for and two maybe's
  15. Oh come on, when have I ever been a member of the soul police? Their usually slagging off my choice of records!
  16. The problem with the last guide is that it included auction prices, which everyone knows aren't a true reflection of the 'real' price if two people are involved in a bidding war.
  17. Well I think Skullsnaps is one of the most bizarre, mind boggling and brilliant records ever made...everything about it, the production, the vocals, the drama of the whole thing. Frankie Crocker must surely sound a mess to anyone not on the northern scene but it's an amazing record to dance to. The Lovelites is one of the most beautiful records I've ever heard, very plaintive and emotional - and as for Monique, I love her raw vocal performance, especially near the end when she sings the line "I love you baby - yes I do" and her voice actually cracks with the intensity of the performance. Apart from that, don't like soul music much
  18. Great idea.
  19. Well said Moggy, absolutely 100% spot on.
  20. PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0BL 01902 893569 pete.smith@freeuk.com LORETTA WILLIAMS - BABY CAKES - JOTIS ISSUE EX+ 55 Lovely copy - seen this for silly money lately SOLD THE LEWIS SISTERS - YOU NEED ME - VIP VG+ 20 Plays great - lovely beat ballad APRIL STEVENS - WANTING YOU - MGM DEMO M- 50 Top copy SOLD JOJO PETITE - JOEY - BOSS M- 125 SOLD This is the same song as LITTLE JEANETTE - CRAZY CRAZY - GREEN LIGHTS but with a much tougher vocal. Same backing track, way harder to find. Books at 200. THE MYSTIC MOODS - ASTRAL TRIP - WARNER BROS DEMO EX 35 Couple of marks not affecting play OK don't laugh FRANK FURTER & HIS HOT DOGS - IMITATION - UPTOWN DEMO EX 250 Shame about the lousy group name - this is the flip of a novelty record called The Green Weenie! But it's an absolutely stunning beat ballad/ender sung by a Little Anthony type vocalist which you can find on John Manship's rarest of the rare for 500 quid. This doesn't have the cartoon picture sleeve. If anyone wants to hear it, I can send an mp3. Postage is extra, thanks for reading. Card, paypal (4%), cheques, cash all accepted.
  21. NOW SOLD Got another copy of this but it has to be more expensive than the last one which was only VG++, this one has one little mark on it but apart from that it plays mint, so I'll grade it as EX+. Want £55 for this one. Postage £1.80 recorded £5.50 special. cheers. pete.smith@freeuk.com
  22. Certainly takes a while to grow on you that record. I like it now, when I first heard it I just didn't get it at all.
  23. You think Dean Barlow is a 'truly soulful record'? There's only about 2 people on the entire thread who might agree with you.
