  1. Here's the final 45 minutes or so from the very last allnighter held at Wigan Casino in 1981. If you visited the Casino and still have fond memories of it - I'd grab a hanky if I were you because the atmosphere on this tape will bring a tear to your eye. Probably. https://planetrecords.podbean.com/ or https://www.raresoul.co.uk/wordpress/?page_id=11

In what way is Summer In The Parks a disco record? because you can dance to it? If anything it sounds more like a fast funk record.

Well yes they did actually, I don't know why people can't get it into their heads that the reason that some people only like 60's soul is because of the way it sounds, the productions of the 70's are totally different to those of the 60's so why does it follow that people should embrace them in the same way they do the 60's records?
  4. I can't tell you on here but I'll PM you. Back in the 'old days', every copy that was played at Wigan jumped. Russ's did, pep's did, I know this cos I've still got tapes of it being played. But I know what you mean. I see records advertised on here which say things like "doesn't hiss, most copies do" and "slightly off centre like most copies" and most of the time it's a load of rubbish. I remember talking to you about that Detroit Executives, everyone said all copies were off centre, and you rightly said they had a tiny bump on the run on and we agreed that the only off centre copy was owned by the person who started the rumour.
  5. Have reduced most items, have a look, some great bargains here!

Not a massive fan of R&B but it's a lot closer to the roots of the northern scene and a lot of it is great to dance to. If I was promoting a venue and had a second room it would be ska and r&b.

I might have said I liked Loving is really my game when it was played in 1977!

yeah but individual records - not artists

You think wrong then. I'd rather go deaf than listen to any of the above. I like 60's soul and just 60's soul because that's the sound I like, I like 60's reggae and don't like 70's reggae because it bears little or no resemblance to the sound that I like. And honestly, whats wrong with only liking one type of soul music, who actually sets out these rules that there's something up with you if you don't listen to all types?
  10. Not for me Mark but a bit of comission will come in handy!
  11. GWEN OWENS - JUST SAY YOU'RE WANTED (AND NEEDED) - VELGO ISSUE One of the few copies that doesn't jump and it came from Gwen herself - she 5 copies, two mint minus ones, one hers, one her Mothers, this was hers. From the person I'm selling it for "john manship got 4k for a copy early this year from my mate on auction and his copy was described as ex++.but compared to mine it looked well used". THIS IS PROBABLY THE CLEANEST COPY THAT EXISTS. No trades / no offers, it's a set sale price and it's £4500.
  12. OK look the only reason that it hasn't been properly announced yet is because we don't know what to call it, has anyone any suggestions? It encompasses jamaican r&b and soul/ska/rocksteady/reggae/well everything or less so I couldn't really call it Ska Corner (actually I kind of like that one!) or whatever. Once we have a name, it'll be officially opened by Sir Mike of Llandudno.

Your my best internet pal James, can I buy you a drink James, can I carry your box for you James, I love you james. signed bearsy
  15. He did Tim, 5 months or so back. Just need to tell everyone that I have been switching uploaded tracks from the Prestatyn and other threads into a new, specialised section just for reggae/ska. Anyway, something weird has happened and it appears that every track that I have moved, and they go into 3 figures, are all now credited to Mossy, whether he posted them or not. So apologies to people like Upsetterfc, pete Griffin and anyone else who posted loads of stuff. I don't think theres any way round this so if you want your track deleted so you can repost them to get your name back on them, send me the list of tracks. In my opinion it doesn't matter as long as people can hear them but thats just my opinion
  16. Maybe I was a bit premature about it being the biggest Jamaican archive, Gordy actually has 50,000 tracks up on the net to download (though it's not public)...we have a way to go yet!
  17. Great record.
  18. As if I'd sell it someone then tell them they can't have it because I got offered more! Nah sorry, it was first come first served. Can't understand why nobody bid on it on ebay, it only cost me £120 last week!
  19. Tami Lynn sold, cheers Art Freeman sold n'all
  20. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Well I didn't actually mean James - but just the idea of someone else touching my records while they are playing is something that would upset me a great deal...it's not on
  21. Pete S replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
You're probably the one who does...all I'll say is the surgeons would still be trying to remove the axe from the head of the person who took my record off while it was playing
  22. TAMI LYNN - RUNAWAY + 3 - FRENCH ATCO EP This is an absolutely pristine copy of the ultra-rare French EP featuring the exclusive track "Runaway" aka "You My Love". Seriously, I doubt if a better copy of this EP has ever been offered for sale by anyone in recent years. Sleeve is MINT or maybe mint minus as it has a couple of initials on the edge of the rear of the sleeve. The vinyl is MINT and absolutely spotless. It even has the little title tag on the open end of the sleeve intact. £350 HERB WARD - STRANGE CHANGE - ARGO DEMO Visually I'd grade this as VG+ but the sound quality is brilliant and it plays a strong EX with no problems whatsoever. Still a huge sound after 30 years and this is a great copy for DJing or just plain listening to. £350 TONY MIDDLETON - TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH - MGM DEMO Lovely copy of this classic, light paper marks caused by removal from sleeve but apart from that, it's a beauty £200 TERRIBLE TOM - WE WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER - MAVERICK DEMO This is the same both sides demo but the condition is unbelievable - it's UNPLAYED MINT. £125 ART FREEMAN - SLIPPIN' AROUND WITH YOU - FAME ISSUE Stunning unplayed black issue - I've got this on Ebay, ending today, but I'll take £150 for it and end the auction if anyone wants it DRAKE & THE ENSOLIDS - PLEASE LEAVE ME - ALTEEN This is best copy I've ever had, beautiful mint minus, will take £100 for this or if you like you can bid on it on Ebay 01902 893569 Pete.smith@freeuk.com Let me know if interested in anything, Cheers Pete

He did, I told Phil, said it was going for usually £100-£125 and I'm sure Phil said no it's only about £40. The Emile Griffiths on TRC, whats it called Going Going Gone I think - thats the same record, and thats about £30 or £40.

Think I've had stuff of him before, no problems - from detroit, right?
  25. Question 1 is nigh on impossible!
