  1. Spotted myself in the photo, top left corner, inch and a half in. Amazing! As I never went to Wigan.
  2. I lusted after one of these when I were a lad. They were the b*llocks back then.
  3. I didn't realise they were a Scottish combo.

I can't agree with that Chalky. If you put up a Trent Sisters and a Little John for sale, the amount of interest in the latter would far out way that of the former. Both rare, both played at the same time. One fantastic, one not.

You would have to be very careful and sneak them out over a long period. You only have to see what happens when a single copy of a rare record turns up. The scare mongers are out in force on this forum saying it's a bootleg, or it's turned up. Six turning up would see owners of said record throwing themselves out of the windows of high rise buildings.

Not really mate, I still think it would be of interest to a very limited few collector / Dj's. But with the internet, it's become much easier to find those interested parties. 1. It's going to be a four figure sum. That is a very limiting factor. 2. It's not a popular tune. This limits it even more. In my humble opinion, if more than half a dozen turned up it would be almost impossible to sell.
  7. Many a true word......

No offence intended mate, it is a very rare piece and some people seem to love it. And indeed it will be very valuable.

sorry Phil I know you always wanted it. It is very rare, but just not for me. Now Little John, well that's right up my strasse

I will give you a tenner to leave it where it is. not my cup of tea.
  12. So it's like most allnighters then, most people bugger off after midnight? Says it all really, and just shows why the Sunday afternoon/early evening events are doing so well. We are too old for allnighters. This is not a criticism, I can't do them anymore myself.
  13. Is it always so light in there? No atmosphere to me when it's so light. It's not an attractive sight anymore is it?
  14. Not been out for quite a while myself, but when I did it was pretty poor. I hear stories about the 1980's when if you had the money you could go to an allnighter and buy almost anything, and I mean all the big ticket tunes. I have never been to Stoke, but I would guess that would have the most dealers present. Butch's box is always worth a look.
  15. Can't agree with that Pete. I couldn't give a flying f**k what any dealer says, I have my own opinion and I much prefer the double tracked version. Once again it sounds much better when played out, and that's the reason I bought the record, to play out. The other version is probably nicer to listen to at home, but that wasn't my criteria for buying it.
  16. I never said anything about one being rarer than the other. What I said was the bongo intro version is the one that most people want. It's definitely not a rare record (either version), but it's popularity means that people are willing to pay mucho money for it. I would say that the Sonatas is by far the rarest thing on the label, a proper rarity. The Gerri Hall, there must be hundreds.
  17. Same thing happened with a mate of mine, but he bought the Sonatas for peanuts because he liked Donna King and it was on the same label. He's still got it, mint as well.
  18. Like I said earlier, this version doesn't command the same money as the other. One of which just sold on this forum for more than twice that price.

I thought that after so many years have passed these laws are redundant?

I think Rob did a few acetates for Dj's to play. I had one at one time. The original is with Andy Rix.

    top man Pete.
  22. George, read the date on James's post. You missed the boat, in fact the boat has probably been scraped by now. Bloody smileys have gone again.
  23. This is the one to own, you won't get anywhere near the same price for the other one.
  24. It looks exactly like a Technics 1200 with a pre amp fitted. If that's what it is you can't go wrong, should be perfect.
