An Interesting Question About Northern Soul
============================ Still don't get it. If you or I is truly interested in something we learn more about it, whether it be train-spotting or Shakespeare. Isn't that more obsessional than showing possible underachievement in another field? And what if someone is very knowledgable about rare records for instance, does that make them an overachiever? Your Worst Ever Experience
==================== Had a few when spinning. KLV a few years ago, went into a spin, somehow caught my shoe in my turn-up, out of control, landed in a girls lap. Funniest one must have been doing a spin at cutler Hammer in Bedford. Empty floor, hit the spin, congratulated myself, record finished, started walking off floor, tripped over a table leg. Too old to pretend it was a drop sequence, so just floundered around for a while, buster Keaton style:) Winnie:-)

An Interesting Question About Northern Soul
==================== Can't really see how being academically proficient would impinge on an ability to collect vinyl. Surely its about being able to spot a tune, so would therefore become a field 'the collector' becomes comfortable in. His/her knowledge of English/Maths/Physics etc wouldn't really be relevant.......would it? Winnie:-)

An Interesting Question About Northern Soul
================= She didn't ask it, she was asked and has relayed it to the list. Visually, unless you go down the 'Al Jolson' route you can't pretend to be another colour. You can however adopt customs etc, which is what we ask immigrants to do if they come to Britain. Winnie:-)

An Interesting Question About Northern Soul
================== Don't think anybody pretends to be black but there probably is a degree of imitation involved, although the two are words apart. Dance moves and phrasing when singing along with tracks are the two examples that spring to mind. Some British artists nowadays sing as though they're American because that's what the market requires, but again it's only imitation. Winnie:-)

============= And that's what the thread is about- Best Ever Dj On Northern Scene
============= That's not the point of the thread though is it. That's the point you're trying to make. Why not start another thread to discuss as it's off topic. Apart from Ian Levine are there ANY other DJ's you like Gavin?- Best Ever Dj On Northern Scene
================== Really don't understand why you do this all the time Gavin, lots of people said Ian Levine as best DJ, but the threads not actually about him, or how he feels about the northern scene these days. It's you that always tries to make it into that. I admire your loyalty but think it's misplaced within this thread. Winnie:-)- Changed Your Style Of Dancing
