I have just been given a box of records from an old pal to sort for him. Most of it soul stuff circa 72-76 lot of it is main stream soul/boogie/funk type stuff that I frankly know very little about - do we have a resident expert on the forum you could point me to QOF XX

Probably worth having for posterity in ten years time when reminiscing and someone said I wonder who bought .............. you can proudly say I DID!!! Could go down as the rarest record of our time!! QOF XX

  4. I always forward them back on to ebay and get same reply, but is there nothing ebay or the www police can trace these guys QOF XX
  5. Got three the same in a day last week - pain in the butt and worrying that some people do not know its a scam. i.e. older people who use ebay or people that are not regualr users and wouldn't know QOF XX
  6. Off Thread again but easier. Are you going to THe Plinston on the 6th May? QOF XX
  7. Only got it on CD missed it on ebay last week really p**sed about that. Now playing Carol Fredricks "Couldn't Care Less" again sadly only on CD. QOF XX
  8. Appols to everyone for being off thread for a mo - but he loved it. He is a Music lover full stop and DJs Dance/House etc, and plays in a rock band. He has just stareted getting into mod stuff and ska (unbeknown to me) and has already decided he's coming again next year. Think he is coming to the all nighter at Llandudno tomorrow with me as well. Thanks for the contacts for passes greatly appreciated. Took my big sis on the sunday and she wants to go again as well - she always was a big soul fan, more of an ottis type follower than NS but still loved it. QOF XX
  9. Although my all time fave will always be Dusty, kim weston and brenda holloway are vg as well, more my cuppa oh and Barbara Lynn singing "you left the water runining" far easier on the old lugs. QOF XX PS RB you're 7 mins early with the St G thingy
  10. I am now nearer 50 than 40 and have heard plenty of AF over the years probably most of it NOT at nighters or NS, but she still doesn't float my boat, just grates on me realy but its only IMO. QOF XX
  11. Doooooooooooooh QOF X
  12. trust me they were'nt spinning amarillo at the time
  13. Before I reply this isn't a joke or a p*ss take it true. My friend Joanne nearly choked to death at wigan in about '74, she swallowed her chuddy (chewing gum to the un initiated) and it got stuck in her throat, when she did a back drop. Scared the sh*t out of me cos my parents thought I was at her house and vice a versa. When we finally sorted her out we were more scared about the parents finding out we were at wigan and getting grounded so we wouldn't be able to go again. And to think now I am a Safety Auditor scarry when you think back to what we did back then
  14. Well I start with ........oooops wrong thread you mean records, don't know really staying in and washing my hair tonight, leaving early for langgyy (referance to "I want to Know Now" cleggy thread) in the morning. QOF X
  15. Bloody hell dave that was a bit deep and profound for you lol QOF XX

  17. Brett I totally agree with your point and I think that's what I was trying to so in my round about way when I referred to "switching on the moderation programme in our heads" lol QOF XX

Yeh Wish they hadn't mentioned it. When the charity shops realise this they will now call in experts to value before the put it up for grabs. Ruins my saturday morning rummage (around the charity shops i mean) QOF XX
  19. Yeh great read - would love to get to see it!! But now the serious bit. In response to the comment on the taboo subject of drug use within the scene, where as I am not niave enough to think that there still isn't an amount of drug use on the scene, i would like to think that with our advancing years and children of our own, we have become much wiser and it doesn't feature so much on the scene these days amoungst us older peeps or at least the moderation programme has switched on in our heads, also the ability to have longer licensing hours may of helped. As much as I welcome younger soulies on to the scene and see them as the mainstay of the scene in the future, it scares me that there could be a resurgence of the drug use we saw back in the early 70s and now with all venues being licensed for all nighters etc it won't be one or the orther it will be both. Being a mum of a 25 year old who has had problems with drug use in the past I felt more comfortable introducing him to the scene this year at prestatyn than I would of done taking him to wigan 30 years ago. We are all getting older lets not hasten our visit to meet our maker, I have too many good friends on the scene that I want to still be spinning with for a good few years yet. Don;t get me wrong I am no goody goody but I like to think that common sense, in some things, prevails QOF XX
  20. So that's what caused Mike Peter's strange behaviour. I never get chance to name drop on any of the other threads (i.e. the ones about famous people you have seen at soul nights, cos my eyesight is so sh*t I wouldn't recognise anyone or over indulged with mr smirnoff) so thought I would grab my chance while I could. Had an email last week off Dave Sharp, used to go out with him many many moons ago, about the time the toilets were about, I can feel the name drop landing now THUMP, he was lead guitarist with Seventeen and the Alarm, his new Soul Co CD is out in may - not a punk track in sight. His mail shots have the tag line, get this, KEEP THE FAITH In fact - new them all quite well Did you also know that for one night only they appeared at Eric's in Liverpool under the name of Eddie Bop, apparently the management didn't think the name Toilets was suitable. Sad when that's my only claim to fame Thank you for letting me have my little bit of glory by temporarily hi jacking your thread, but I did manage to get a couple tenuous NS references in there so don't slap my wrists. Ok now back to the thread - I don't remember anything about this night either. lol QOF Still waffalling after all these years

Can I come, I reckon me and your mate gaz could sort out the neighbours for you QOF X
  22. Dave I have told you time and time again Aretha is s***e, over rated and a screacher and personally never have and never would have any thing by her in my box. DUSTY is the best and I think I would rather even listen to Dolly Parton than Aretha, or as Ken suggested earlier Mrs Miller (dont remember her but got to be better than AF) was better than Aretha, in fact me on Karaoke is bad but better than Ms Franklin (well I thought so at 12.30am today) Your ever loving QOF XXX

Dave Why not use the smaller rooms for dj showcasing i.e. a bit of mod, bit of popcorn/doo wop/ska etc as in the victoria at prestatyn. of hour slots bring your box. I could always do half hour of hand bag (aka that music you wished you could forget - only joking chaps lol QOF XX
  24. Prada dear, only the best for the QOFx
