  8. Afternoon Pete, Ever woken up and thought what a plonker? I did because my previous comment would have just stirred on a never ending conversation and it would have been easier just to forget it. Although with your internet wizardry you have managed to resurrect my post, funny that it being Good Friday n all. First of all, I don't know who you are, nor Chalky and I don't come on here to disrespect anyone. I got sucked into the 'debate' after Henning said I was mentioned and thought I'd give my 2 pennies worth - which I do stand by, except for the handbag slurs. In all seriousness though, I do enjoy relating to and reminiscing about certain things, sometimes I'll watch Only Fool & Horses, I'm not really a Time Team kinda fella, then sometimes, when I'm feeling really nostalgic, I'll look on these forums and realise the importance of doings things in a circumscribed fashion by your traditions. Wouldn't be right for someone to come along, be inspired and overwhelmed about what he/she's experiencing, enjoy its various eccentricities and want to pursue their own directions? Nope? Didn't think so. So please save us both the hassle of prolonging this conversation and let's give it a rest. Now go and enjoy your Easter eggs
  9. Pete, is this you from Sweden?
  10. Henning chill out bro..he really is a sweetheart in real life.
  11. Isn't the thought of being in your late teens/twenties and wanting to impress people twice/three times your age, the most uninspiring perspective you could have? Finally there is interest from this age group and people are too bothered about how to hand the baton down, "in my day we started from the bottom...", bloomin eck, what a boring story, seriously who cares? I'd say to start your own night but there is so many nights going on that it's not even worth it. Seriously, just go out and have a good time, dance your arse off, chat with people, they're more likely to offer you a spot if they like you rather than seeing a playlist. One main point is, if you are young then don't differentiate going out to a soul club then you would any other club, be respectful and bring your mates (and plenty of birds because God knows we need them) but treat it in a way that it becomes an inviting place for everyone rather than just some underground cult. Bottom line is I can imagine that apart from these differences musically on the soul scene, we all know that this is the best music ever written & recorded. It needs to be promoted in a certain manner to sustain a healthy interest and not in the way that you get some odd looking people on the one show or you make a look a like reissue to cash in on a rare record - but in a way that shines some positive and sophisticated light on it.
  12. Hi Tolbert, I only started collecting around 3 years ago, this was predominantly latin/funk records. So don't have a playlist from then, nor after as I like a shandy or two whilst spinning tunes. Hope that helps
  13. If you bothered to listen to his video carefully then you would have heard that he mentioned it being a hit on the UK/European soul circuit, which I could pretty much agree with
  14. Nope, heard it at my first trip Pow Wow several years ago and have only heard it at small/intimate clubs since. VVV was the first time I heard it in a large hall, still worked a treat
  15. Heard it at Va Va Voom last year and it sounded great, but not sure if I ever want to see a pair of Oxford bags float around to this tune
  16. Personally, I love this tune and never thought I'd own a copy. However just like buses they never come along individually, hence selling (or at least trying to) a spare. I never heard Paul spin this - it was Mik who introduced this anthem at the Pow Wow when I was starting to get into it all, hence this 45 having legendary status amongst the boys & girls. Regarding the youtube link, people who own this tune (prior to me) have wanted to keep this tune somewhat 'underground', on specific mixes and off youtube - I can relate to this for aforementioned reasons and not making it so easily accessible so people could easily tire of the track; really doesn't justify it. With regards to those who don't like the tune, absolutely fine - different strokes! I don't like happy go lucky northern tunes and opt for the deep, dark & depressing (uplifting in my book) anthems!
  17. Feel like I've got the opposite of the midas touch when it comes to selling rare records. Never seen an empty dance floor to this, hardly turns up especially in this condition and just thought I'd try share the wealth here, never mind! Btw, it's on the sales thread now, set price.
