New to me - just had a listen on Youtube and I think it's excellent
Kind of odd with MG's voice pitched down slightly - couldn't it have been quantised (or whatever the word is) at the correct pitch to fit that backing? Presumably not
The other thing I never understand is how can it be available on Spotify for example as Claes Rosen 'If this world were mine' with no credit at all to MG? Happens all the time with samples, why don't they have to credit the artists?
Anyway really enjoyed it, lovely late night tune - similar in feel to the Paris Green / MG 'Oh Yes' that got a lot of spins 4-5 years ago

It's not just the mix; the vocal take and guitar parts on the KoKo 45 are different takes than the modern day CD/7" "reissues". The original 45 is also missing parts of the horn arrangement and is more heavy on the guitar doing fills. There's a guitar solo between 1:47 to 2:02 that is entirely absent from the "reissued" version where that part is played by a saxophone instead.
Regardless of version, it's an absolutely sublime recording!
Really interesting that, totally different to the Kent take as you say
First heard it spun by Sam c. 1997 I guess, loved it then - would it have been this Koko demo take that he was playing at the time?

Hi,
I live in Sheffield and I am very keen to go to a Northern Soul night in the Yorkshire / Stoke-on-trent area, that is well attended with young people, as I am young myself (21). I know the scene is very friendly and the music is so uplifting and I find the dancing amazing. Can anyone recommend a soul night in any of these areas.
Many thanks
RhiannaHi Rhianna,
My daughter's at Manchester Uni and we went to Jordan's most recent Room at the Top niter, absolutely superb - good mixed crowd, lots of younger but also some enthusiastic older - basically all classic and upfront northern with a bit of R&B and modern thrown in - really good fun
Here's the link to their FB page, looks like next one Sat 7th June - highly recommended
