Well it's taken a while but finally sending the first of these out .

Okeh Records: A Pictorial Discography (4-7150 to 4-7337).A detailed discography of Okeh Records from 1962 until the labels demise in 1970.

Comprises 84 pages, including 21 full colour sheets, and details of every release from mid-1962 onwards. Discography contains details of each record taken direct from the record label and includes Artist / Title / Writer(s) / Arranger(s) / Producer(s) and ZSP number where these details were noted.

Can't remember the title but there's an Earl Van Dyke track on one of the sound of Detroit cd's that I quiet like. Something like 'after dark' I think

Love to collect these US eps. I've got Marvelettes (first album), Marvin Gaye (greatest hits) and Martha & Vandellas (greatest hits) and a various artists with 'When I'm gone' on. definitely seen Temps as well

Not sure if you noticed it but The Independant had an article on Vancouver Island in the travel section this weekend.

Went many years ago. found one or two bits in Vancouver but nothing on the Island. Beautiful place though sure you'll enjoy it. Food superb, scenery class. Afternoon tea at the big hotel in Victoria (Empress i think) worth a punt if they are stll doing it.

Think it was booted. Vague recollection of my brother buying one from Wigan record bar. Green label if I remember correctly

On the subject of the live albums the Hinkley one is much better quality than the Torch IMO. Wrote an album, i believe. whilst in prison. Evenutaly came out on Kat Family mid 80's.

Sorry if this has been done before but last couple of records I've had fro US

have been held by post office and stung for tax. Not happened before.

Are their certain states where this happens? Or just having a run of bad luck?

Saw him at Glastonbury and he was very good but i think he will be more suited to a smaller venue. Daughter at Liverpool UNI and he's playing at the Philharmonic just down the road which is a smashing little venue so might give it a go.

So, every time I see anything about Northern Soul these days (and I've seen lots) it seems that when the casino closed the scene died. I know from a lot of comments on here that many are annoyed with this view. So I'm taking it upon myself to do some research and write an article on the days after Wigan. I'll put it on my site initially but I also have plans to create a magazine in the near future so this would be a great thing to publish.

 

I don't do things by half so if I'm going to write it I'm going to be thorough. Which means I need as much info and as many contacts as possible. I have my own recollections of the time, but they won't be enough!

 

Anyone who can help, please let me know.
