Curly Moore
Great Track! Went for £500ish on Manship. Had hoped to find a copy during my recent visit to Orleans - no luck though. I did get one Curly Moore record called Soul Train on Hot Line. I like it - a grower.

Ebay Feedback
eBay has a procedure called "Mutual Feedback Withdrawal" which allows negative feedback to be withdrawn. However, this only removes the negative rating; all comments are left for everyone to see. I know this because I once had a similar experience to you. Anyway, you have to both agree to this - probably not going to happen now.

How Big Is The N/soul Scene?
6 million Londoners! If my calculations are correct this would indicate that there is between 1131.5 and 1628.5 Active Soulies in London. This does not include the people who turn up now and again (non regulars). Ad hoc people would probably more than double this pool. My question is who's the 0.5?

How Big Is The N/soul Scene?
Sometime I attempt to do them when I'm on the end of the wife as a staying tactic. Doesn't seem to work though. It sure puts her in a mood!

How Big Is The N/soul Scene?
Yeah, you are probably right, I also forgot to factor in the beer affect, as you know I am mostly pissed at every soul night I have ever been too, so may have included a few pink elephants and some fluffy pigs. As for quadratic equations, can only do them when I'm completely hammered.

How Big Is The N/soul Scene?
While driving home from work, I was thinking about your initial question with regard to the population of UK northern scene (CD players has packed in). Anyway, I estimate that approximately 0.023% of the UK population regularly attend northern nights. Therefore, with a current UK population of approximately 59 million this would equate to approximately 13,570 active soul punters. I derived this by extrapolating the ratio of the number of local people to the local population, who regularly attending nights here in the NE of Scotland, to the rest of the UK. Anyway, looking at this statistically, if we assume a normal distribution and take 13,570 as the mean, a one standard deviation error would give a probability range of between 11,127 and 16,012. So I agree that 10,000 is probably an underestimation. However, this just a stab at it and could be complete bull. God, I must be a right sad prick to try and work this out in my head! Des

Worst Venue You've Been To
You are all probably either not interested or getting bored with this topic but for all those who have been keeping up with this thread, Saturday nights Carlton had 70+ attendances, which IMHO is reasonable for a small venue. No blizzard conditions this time. The atmosphere was brilliant and the floor was busy most of the night. Guest DJ's Hammy and Mike Coates from Edinburgh did everyone proud.

No - I am going to slit my wrists due to all this stress, then come back and haunt the place.

Worst Venue You've Been To
Ok Richie, Point taken! I do not condone anybody slagging off any soul night, especial any held in Aberdeen. I have tried to make that point clear on a number of occasions to the above mentioned persons. It all seems very stupid to me. Everyone used to all get along fine. Do you think it's gone too far for reconciliation? I'll arrange to discuss this with you, over a pint, along with a number of other issues which I don't want to go into here. I'll phone. As for the tunnel, I would still be there even if you banned me. Cheers, D

Worst Venue You've Been To
In reply to Richie (Gasher). I must apologise to all the people who encouraged me not to reply to this post. However, after reading Gasher's comments, I feel that this would not have been right. So here's the one you've been waiting for. Richie, As a resident DJ and one of the promoters of the Carlton, I would like to put your allegations into perspective. Firstly, yes we had a low turnout at our last night (9 is an under exaggeration). However, this had a lot to do with the fact that in the afternoon and evening, Aberdeen and surrounding area saw blizzard conditions. Everywhere in the city centre was dead that night, with many roads blocked and taxis refusing to move. As a result most of our regulars did not attempt to venture out. I wouldn't have either if it weren't for me DJ'ing. With an inch of snow lying before 9pm and four or five by morning, I was lucky to get home, having to abandon my car, even after leaving early. As such we had our poorest turn out by far. Even if at some point in the night there was as little as nine, this is still not the lowest ever seen at an Aberdeen soul night. Cast your mind back to the East Neuk, which you were involved in. These nights regularly had poor attendance; however the wife and I nearly always supported them. How many years did it take for you guys to get it right? We are a new night and are still learning. Secondly, I personally have never slagged off any of your nights; in fact I regularly defend them. Also, as you know I always support them, having missed very few over the years. This is more than can be said about you with regard to our nights. Why don't you come along one night? I regularly tell people as a progressive soul night goes; the Belmont in my humble opinion is the best in Scotland. However, I do acknowledge that there has been some uncalled for slagging and the winding up of people from other quarters on both sides, but not from me. This upsets me and I have actively tried to stop this. Your post has not helped. As for not wanting to personally discuss this, I do not know where you got this from. Let's be adult enough to take this off this forum and discuss this face to face over a pint. Dez.
