Steve at 20 when deciding if you want to go on holiday or buy a car or go to the pub every night or spend all your cash on designer clothes or just save up to get your own place you will be putting whatever you choose to do at the top of your list of priorities
Pete. With respect mate. They're not priorities, they're things you do. In no particular order. I didn't make a list of what I wanted, things just happened in whatever order they turned up.

Where I work there are 20 year olds on exactly the same money as me, I can guarantee with very few exceptions they all have much more left over than me after outgoings, drive nicer cars, and enjoy nicer holidays,
It all depends where on an individuals list of priorities they place original records, and what they are prepared to sacrifice in order to fund them,
Pete. At twenty you don't have a list of priorities. You just do what ever. I know I did and I think the majority would.

My dad used to tell me off whenever I spat my dummy out and called people names when I couldn't get my own way but then I found Soul Source and it was full off people that don't always see things how I want them to and so I just had to accept that they are always wrong. If you can get used to that then Soul Source really ain't that bad and SOME yes SOME even have a sense of humour but you really have to look hard for them ones as they really are a rare breed and probably not originals
Hang on in there and check out refosoul and all the music threads some brilliant tunes in there
Bearsy. How very dare you come on here and say some people have a sense of humour, they're all miserable

didnt he sing it at lowton, 1999/200
When Eddie Holman performed at Lowton backed by four members of the Liverpool Philharmonic orchestra it to my mind redefined live acts. It was the greatest performance that I've seen of any live act. Think it was about ninety minutes of unbelievable pure emotion. He described how every record that he performed came about, who he wrote it for. Hey there lonely girl was just like listening to the 45. I surrender, so special. Wanted in three states. WOW. Where I'm not wanted. You just had to be there. I can't describe the night, no words could do it justice.

Hi Ralf, The problem seems to be with the Royal Mail website, for over a week it was showing that this package had been delivered and signed for on the 26th March, yesterday my partner checked the website again and now it shows the package as being processed for delivery, this means that it's still in the German mail system awaiting delivery! I appreciate the feedback on Baster as this was the general idea behind my initial post! This is a real problem with ebay these days, it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad, I will pass your info on to my partner. thanks!
That's one of the things I love about this site. The honesty and desire as a whole to sort things properly and post the said results when things come to light. ie royal mail problems. Nice one.

Wow, cracking thread. I don't know where to start.
I really do see both sides of the discussion. I guess the cover up generates intrigue, curiosity and puts the track on a pedestal and maybe in the long run some notoriety for the producers, writers, group/performer, studio, label etc, and indeed the DJ. Then, a licence deal takes place, a legitimate release and some success for the track that will now appear on the odd compilation getting the group out of retirement and performing over here in the UK at weekenders. On the other hand, it does seems an odd way to respect the music.
Can you imagine if you were in a pub and wanted a bottle of 'Marlow Rebellion Blonde' to drink, but found out afterwards the landlord had covered up another beer with that name because he had found a smaller brewery on the other side of town that he felt needed a hand with their marketing and thought you might enjoy it better! Or next time you go to the cinema to see a film, it isn't the one you thought you had paid for, the cinema manager claiming you will like the covered up movie he is showing better than the one you expected.
Can somebody clarify what happened with Lenny Gamble then? How does that equate into all this?
Is this about morals and respect or dare I say it...just human nature? I have learnt to accept it, but it really is odd behaviour, not half as bad as dancing on The One Show though!
Got to dash, writing a new song which will blow your socks off if it gets a chance to be heard. Ask me if I would like it covered up and an eventual record deal because of it.....making me millions.
Carl. Send me the new record when it's pressed and I will come out of DJ retirement and play it as a cover up then when we get enough interest we will slowly let a few copies leak out at £5000 a pop, split the profits 50/50 sorted

Just listening to a mp 3 in the car and a Wilson Picket tune started playing called I found a true love. Then in one of the verses he sings about calling his true love magnolia. It just sounded strange .Got me thinking about what other records are out there with strange comments. So let's see what you can come up with.

There's no boot of the Epitome Of Sound on Sandbag issue. If the braille numbers aren't there, they just aren't there.
Pete. I remember Steve Thomas saying to me years ago the only record he would have out of my collection was my Epitome of Sound, Sandbag issue. It had no Braille numbers under the label. Steve

Excellent pics, everyone! Here in southern BC, Canada, spring has fully sprung. The trees are now in full bud and the orchards are just starting to bloom. I need to take some pictures. Even had a Robin singing away this morning for the first time:-)
Be nice to get some Canadian wildlife picture's posted, you have set yourself up now for getting out with a camera. Look forward to seeing the results. Steve

But I think that was part of the House / rave scene, it was open to anybody and everybody. The Northern scene although attended by thousands upon thousands has and always will have a core which is very selective about who comes in.. Ive never ever liked that aspect of the Northern Soul Scene and Ive never felt as welcome in the way I did on the House scene. But Northern Soul Music is utterly brilliant and I love it to death...
Malcolm
Malcolm. The scene you describe has in my opinion long gone. Unfortunately. When I first started out on this voyage you had to prove yourself sort of thing with being able to dance, know what records where on what labels, your clothes, but most of all show respect to everybody, so you could earn it.
