Hi all - Kath here with a bit of feedback from Soul Brew's first event at Headley Venue. There were some familiar faces in the room, plus lots of new ones which meant the DJs had to work hard to do the dance floor justice.. on top of the usual mix of Northern, Club Soul, R&B & rarer tunes, the DJs all dug a bit deeper into the record boxes - lo & behold - a bit more Motown, underplayed and popular- and the dance floor was packed! A massive shout out to guest on the night Vicky Darbyshire from Ripon City Soul Club who played a storming set- brilliant as ever . Glad to say that everybody said they'd had a good night & also that Headley say they would like Soul Brew to do more soul nights there in the future, so watch this space! As always - thanks everyone for coming and thanks for dancing - your support is very much appreciated! PS - The bucket collection that we did for Maggie's to support our DJ mate Steve Sowerbutts while he's undergoing treatment for cancer raised 106.09p - huge thanks to all who donated. I'll be rattling the bucket again at The Bistro at the end of the month & I'll update the total collected when I've had a final count up. -

Soul Brew have yet another storming night in store for us in The Mead Hall - the upstairs function room at The George, Cleckheaton - where the DJs will be playing their usual mix of Northern stompers, Motown dancers, 60s club soul & up-tempo R&B, along with a sprinkling of rare & underplayed tunes thrown in for good measure. All aimed to keep the dancers happy & the floor busy - bring your dancing shoes! 🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃 The Mead Hall has bags of character; a warm & welcoming atmosphere, with seating around the decent-sized dance floor, plus some nice little nooks & crannies for seating. There is a car park & there will be menus available at the bar for food to order from the downstairs bistro. The George is very easy to find - just up the road from Cleckheaton bus station & facing onto the park. Card payments are accepted at the bar, but cash only on the door please. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐OUR GUEST DJ FOR OCTOBER IS DENIS CONVERY (OUTWOOD)⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sadly, Soul Brew had no other option than to cancel this event due to reasons beyond our control - however - we will be holding more events at The George. Watch this space folks! 😉

So sorry to disappoint everyone, but we have just taken the decision to cancel tonight's event due to the bad weather - tonight's forecast is for the temperature to drop to -7 in this area so the icy roads will be absolutely lethal! 😰 Take care & hope you will be able to join Soul Brew at one of our future events!

A night of modern soul at Bradford's Dominican Association with resident DJs Martin Dransfield, George Falzon & Bagi, plus guest DJ Hutchy spinning the tunes. Reggae & ska in the chill out room Door tax 7.00 & 5.00 for members.

To avoid disappointment it might be a good idea to get there early doors - last month we had a full house shortly after 9pm! 😉

I agree Stephen - I think things have changed since the lockdown ended - as you say the atmosphere at some events seems to be different. People don't seem to be going out quite so often as they used to - I know of so many events that are really struggling with low numbers now. Could that be because there just isn't as much money around at the mo - or maybe we're all getting a bit too long in the tooth to be going out every weekend & happy to stay in with a few mates round for a drink & a few tunes? Having said that - I know of other events that are absolutely thriving!

We had a full house for our first event at The George in February with so much great feedback, both on the night & also afterwards!
