It's not a new thing - I had my purse stole from my bag at The Twisted Wheel way back in about 1966! I had no cash left at all. so my mates all clubbed together to give me enough cash for the rest of the weekend & to catch the bus back to Bradford on the Sunday. Sadly it seems to be happening more & more often now though 😢

As some of you may know from our Facebook page Soul Brew have had no option but to cancel our event at The Lightcliffe on 30th July & look for another venue, as the club has unfortunately double-booked - they also have a wedding party booked in for the same date.😢 We've had a good look around - it was a bit of a struggle to find somewhere fairly close by so that our regulars wouldn't have too far to travel! It also had to be suitable, available for that weekend (We needed to stick to the last weekend of the month so as not to clash with other local events!) & also not too pricey for us to hire - but The Low Moor (161 Huddersfield Road, BD12 0TQ) has come up trumps & made us feel very welcome. The club steward is really pleased to have a soul night on again at the club, even if it's only for a one-off event!👍👍 It will still be the same Soul Brew DJs (Steve Yendley - Marc Silverside - Carl Eastwood & Stuart Eastwood) Still the same music policy & same great, friendly atmosphere too - just a different venue. The bar's cheap too!🍻 🍷🍺 Please note - the club management has asked us to keep the talc put down to a minimum, as it makes a mess for the cleaners & it also causes breathing problems for those who have asthma. Please would everyone only use the limited amount that we have provided - fingers crossed this is a compromise that will suit everyone! Thanks🙂 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐OUR GUEST DJ FOR JULY HAS JUST BEEN CONFIRMED!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tom Wheelhouse (from Barnsley) will be joining us on the night to spin a few tunes for us. It'll be great to see you again Tom!

Thanks to all those who chose to join us at Lightcliffe last night - despite numbers being a tad on the low side due to so many clashing events, we all had a great night Thanks too & well done to DJs Marc Silverside; Steve Yendley; Stuart Eastwood; & Carl Eastwood, plus special guest DJ Mike Eastwood - the music was spot on - you nailed it again guys! Now we are looking forward to our next event on Saturday 30th July, when Barnsley lad Tom Wheelhouse will be joining us to spin a few tunes on the Lightcliffe decks. Bring it on!🙂🙂

Plenty of weekenders on this weekend & if you're going to one here's hoping you have a great time, but if you've decided to stay local to Yorkshire you're more than welcome to come & join us at The Lightcliffe - we are always happy to see new faces! All our DJs are spinning the tunes simply for the love of music - not out to make money & no egos to boost - just the pleasure of seeing a floor full of happy dancers! 💃🕺 Hope to see you on the dance floor.🙂🙂

After all the good feedback from Soul Brew's first night at Lightcliffe in May, we just can't wait for our second event in June!🙂 The Lightcliffe's got it all - friendly atmosphere, fab dance floor & plenty of parking space. It's also very easy to find - on the main road & about 5 mins drive from the Chain Bar roundabout. As always our DJs will be playing a cracking selection of Northern, Motown, R&B & Club Soul, with maybe a few rarer tunes thrown in for good measure - all aimed to please the dance floor. Requests always very welcome - if the DJs have it with them, they'll play it for you! 🎧🕺💃🎶 In addition to our regular DJs, our guest DJ for this month is local lad Mike Eastwood (Wakefield Soul Club) 🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃

Thanks to all who came to support Soul Brew at their first event at Lightcliffe. I heard lots of good feedback from around the room........"The music was spot-on"............."nice friendly atmosphere......."......."The dance floor's great - no need for talc!"....."Thanks - we've had a really good night & we'll be back." One couple left with a thumbs up & said "Impressed - see you next month!" So.....thanks & well done to all the Soul Brew DJs - it looks like you nailed it guys!

We're all really pleased to see the Lightcliffe soul nights back up & running again too scubadog! Different DJ line-up, but still the same great atmosphere & fab tunes - hope you can make it there at some point in the future 🙂 🙂

There seems to be some confusion as to the identity of Soul Brew - it's just four guys - Marc Silverside, Steve Yendley, Stuart Eastwood & his son Carl Eastwood - who make up Soul Brew. They have been around for the last five years or so & at the moment they run Sunday afternoon events at Jeremy's The Boat House in Brighouse, where the regulars prefer more popular, commercial soul. Now the guys are all really looking forward to playing some of the less well-known tunes that go down so well at Lightcliffe.🙂 There appears to be an incorrect rumour doing the rounds that it's Halifax Soul Crew taking over the soul nights at Lightcliffe, but HSC & Soul Brew are totally separate groups with no connection whatsoever. I really wish people would get their facts straight before they try to spread rumours!!🙃

Great news that Soul Brew DJs Marc Silverside & Steve Yendley - plus Stuart & Carl Eastwood - have taken over the running of the soul nights at The Lightcliffe, where they will be spinning atb soul - Motown - Northern - R&B & club classics, plus a few rarer tunes too. All aimed to keep the dance floor busy! 🎧 💃 🕺 🙂 The Lightcliffe's got it all - very easy to find - on the main road & only about 4 miles drive from the Chain Bar roundabout. It has a fab sprung dance floor - plenty of parking space - reasonably-priced bar plus a very friendly & welcoming atmosphere. 🍷 🍻 🎉 For more info, please look up Soul Brew at The Lightcliffe on our facebook page & don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions!🙂 🙂

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Soul at The Lightcliffe has come to an end. This has been an incredibly difficult decision and not one we have taken lightly. The Soul scene is in a very different place to where it was pre-covid, that along with the personal commitments, availability & health issues within the team has meant that we have decided it is for the best that we call it a day. We had such a storming first event at the start and then covid hit We have found it (as many souls clubs have) very difficult to recover. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Donna & the team at the Lightcliffe plus each & every DJ that have supported us along the way, it is very much appreciated! Finally, thank you to you all for joining us, dancing & supporting each month. We've made some very good friends, as well as receiving phenomenal support from friends from other soul clubs too! For Kath & I, we started S@L for the love of putting together, planning & promoting events which we've given it our all & more... We hope to see you all again, Keep on Dancing love Laura & Kath xxxxxx

Hi all - Kath here. Just want to say - what a cracking night we had on Saturday! Our DJs Steve Dalton & Mick Elsworth - plus guest DJ Steve Luigi - played some storming tunes right from the get-go & kept the dance floor busy all night. Well done guys - you nailed it! Thanks too to all those who came to support us - as always it's great to see the usual, regular faces, but also good to see people who had travelled from a bit further afield. We heard Barnsley - Burnley - Todmorden & Bristol mentioned to name just a few! Thanks for coming - thanks for dancing - we couldn't have done it without you. Oooh & one last thought - well done to DJ Mick Elsworth for gritting your teeth to play your most hated tune EVER - The Snake! I guess it must have been a request Mick - I really can't think of another reason for you to play it - I'm surprised you even had it in your box!!

I saw LOADS of live bands at The Wheel way back in the 1960s, but my favourite has to be Junior Walker - he just blew the bloody roof off!👍👍👍
