CULCHETH with CARL & MARIA WILLINGHAM Find Out More...
Yes get in, my Soul Source is back on after nearly a week in the wilderness. it's been crazy not knowing what the hell's going on. Okay here's one for the next instalment at Culcheth next Saturday. Apparently this was played at Wigan but I don't remember it from there. it must have been played after I'd stopped going, I can definitely see it going down a storm there, I wonder if it was covered up? Mick.

Coming Soon from MD Records Group
Jordan, is there any chance of that brilliant Shirley J Scott? track ever making it to MD Records. Phil Dick has the master tape,MD has the technology. It's definitely worth pursuing. B

CULCHETH with CARL & MARIA WILLINGHAM Find Out More...
Ain't it funny how some records bring back vivid memories of when you first had the pleasure of hearing them. For me one of Ian Levine's best ever discoveries is Steve Karmen's "Breakaway" and one of the best ever cover up names "Black ships to hell". Shortly after he played it at the Mecca I was at a midweek soul night somewhere in Leigh run by local Leigh legends Walt & Chaddy when they played "Black ships to hell"through the mic from a tape they'd recorded at the Mecca, I think they may have even left Levine introducing it, how good is that. Ian played the instrumental side then but here's the wonderful part 1 vocal side featuring Jimmy Radcliffe. Just imagine hearing this for the very first time now.

CULCHETH, TWO ROOM SOUL NIGHT w guest SOUL SAM
When John Weston dropped the needle on The Spindles "Ten shades of Blue" last Friday at Sue's memorial do & It sounded fantastic through Baz's massive sound system, thankfully I was standing chatting at the back of the hall and got the full effect, and so did the busy dancefloor. One for tonight.

CULCHETH, TWO ROOM SOUL NIGHT w guest SOUL SAM
I was just thinking back to a conversation I was having at the Blackpool Mecca one Saturday night in the 70's, and Soul Sam's latest sound was brought into the conversation, I was asked if I'd heard Lada Edmund Jnr "The Larue", no was my answer, you need to hear it he said. Well as it happened there was an all dayer at Whitchurch Civic the next day and guess who was on. so a car full of us went down there. He played it and I certainly wasn't disappointed, in fact I still love it to this day. Okay I don't expect him to still have it let alone want to play it. (He's certainly not short of Sam first plays) but I just thought I'd tell the story. I'll give it a spin myself if that's ok.

CULCHETH, TWO ROOM SOUL NIGHT w guest SOUL SAM
When Contempo Raries decided to release Deon Jackson's "Love makes the world go round" bw "I can't go on", who'd have thought that a different mix would be released. not just different but better than the original, complete with female backing singers and wonderful tinkly bits. Thanks to Ste Plumb for putting me on to this many years ago.
