  1. Young and Company, featuring Jacqueline Thomas:
  2. Starleana Young, ex-Slave and Aurra (later Deja before going solo):
  3. I could say the same with this artist - and her style is often way too syrupy MOR for me but she can certainly do it: Yolanda Adams
  4. Jackie Ross, with the Southside Movement:
  5. More Norman Whitfield action, with Stargard, featuring Rochelle Runnells:
  6. Sharon Redd on a Leon Ware-penned tune:
  7. The Ritchie Family began as a studio concept led by Richie Rome in Philly, with the Sigma Sweethearts doing vocal duties. Somehow Jacques Morali took over and took them down the same eurodisco path as Village People, but as that dried up the Ritchie Family did an album with Jacques Fred Petrus' team, and followed that up with an album produced by Gavin Christopher, covering much more soulful territory:
  8. Backtracking a bit before things begin to wrap up - The Ridgeways, as featured on Gene Dunlap's wonderful debut LP:
  9. Much championed by Mick O'Donnell - Xxception to the Rule: Appeared on Mick's "Soul Discovery" compilation and on their own album:
  10. Keith "The Key Man" Edwards is an unlikely entry here at the best of times, but that would be to overlook Xaviera Gold's contribution:
  11. Unlimited Touch appeared earlier, but I'm using this for Audrey Wheeler:
  12. And this has to be one of the most amazing discoveries of recent years - Dee Dee Warwick going for it and then some:
  13. Dee Dee's version might be more famous, but Dionne's version comes off her wonderful Jerry Ragovoy produced 1974 LP "Then came you":
  14. Soul Brother Records in London are big supporters of Carmen Lundy. She has visited the store for record signings in the past. They have some goodies available: https://soulbrother.com/?s=carmen+lundy&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&post_type=product
  15. Great nomination, and a very classy lady. Saw her live years ago - very impressive. I remember hearing that album being featured on BBC Radio 1's soul show of the time, of all places! She's still going strong and releasing high quality albums.
  16. And rewinding all the way back to B for this by someone who mostly gave us eurodisco but took time out for one album produced by Michael Lovesmith to give us this very Mtume & Lucas sounding classic - Pattie Brooks:
  17. Taka Boom could certainly belt it out, and did her fair share of disco and eighties electro-thumpers, but her stint in the Undisputed Truth gave us this:
  18. Mavis Staples or her family never did a version of "It's something" as far as I know, but this Curtis Mayfield penned and produced song from a very good comedy film soundtrack does her/them justice:
