Rare 45s
Hahha Steve .. You must know I like everything soulful , but if theres a dancefloor and the crowd are young enough why not play it fast funky and furious .. Oh yeah you forgot to play Allan Arris ps. not sure on rarity of John Donvan..but probably very rare

I think another reason (apart from the monetary factors etc etc) why Butch is a magnet for rare NS/Modern records is because often collectors want a record to go to a good home .( and yes the best way to get great records is from collectors IMO and of course ebay ) He also has all the ticks in the boxes that gain you respect on the Northern scene ( if you dont have all of the ticks youve had it in some peoples eyes) Hes number one NS jock and no one can touch him !

But surely James having thousands of records to call upon on the shelf's is a big part of why Butch is number one in Northern soul .. The one in one out approach is actually quite difficult and fraught with danger. dont ya think?

It does seem Butch's sets change more when he's abroad .. well thats what he told me Ive not witnessed it Mixing up of genre's seems ok away from the Uk ..and thats why I'd like to see Ian Wright in the Northern rooms at events like Soul Rev .. but of course hes too scared

Jocko I was going to write along similar lines to you ..but I summarized maybe too much .. btw John A's place early 80' was very nice indeed ...

Butch is always on the look out for something new and does know of foriegn chaps with great sounds , his net is spread wide !! .. He's probably the only real newies jock on the NS scene now. I dont see Mick H as a newies jock at all , or even Soul Sam these days ..
