  9. See the `All our yesterdays` thread from January 07: "Notts Days Gone By Etc Was: Soul Cafe Nottingham Any one been/know anything about it??" Loads of chat on this thread.
  10. hey up, now then £1 mmmmm worth thinking about, no tell you what I'll leave it to you in my will.
  11. yep but it isn't, like i said earlier in the main it remains the scene of our generation. Try putting on a night for under 25s or 30s and see what you get, might be worth a try???? We have had two great young dancers at the Pilsley night, both have won dance compertitions at Blackpool and Skegness, both have now quit the scene for things their age. Chris
  12. There is no future for northern soul............. cause we are all going to DIE and our kids and grand kids will sell our precious records at car boot sales and flee markets for 20p................................. Just like them old 33rpm you see everwhere...................Oh my God I think I'll end it now........................................ Sorry the fullstop button keeps sticking...................... Chris
  13. Of the two or three nighters i have been to lately they played uptempo oldies most of the night, which is ok I guess, I love it myself especially the oldies that don't get played too often. On the other hand I've heard far too many boring tunes (IMO) that send me to sleep, in the quest for new music I guess, but two steppers drive me mad. As for the Willie Mitchells I'm sick of hearing it and the likes, but my youngest son loves the uptempo oldies and wouldn't want anything less when he comes to a soul night or more now than ever when he plays them at home. Why? because although he likes the music he doesn't want to be seen hanging about with a "bunch of old fogies" In my opinion you can forget about getting youngsters in to soul, our soul anyway. I know there are a few but in the main it remains the scene of our generation. If you want to know what the kids are dancing to these days and at allnighters go to Glass House @The Mission in Leeds, they queue for 3 hours to get in and enjoy a nighter with up to 3 thousand of their own age. now ask yourself, if you were 19 where would you go? I know where i would be. Chris

  15. that was probably 'Look on the good side' ? the vocals intro is just about as long.
  16. don't mind the Carstairs but have to say that Interplay is the worst record ever played, written, and performed by anybody, at anytine anywhere, northern soul, pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeee. give me a break. chris
  17. think the worst type are anything extremely fast like The Inciters 'Since you Left' don;t even think about it.
  18. uuuummmmm, famous last words
  19. I probably know the answer to this already but I'll ask anyway. did ANYBODY dance to it Pete,
  20. I seem to recall in the long distant past of this thread that some folks said they would prefer to listen to a dj playing his/her cheap records because at least they are originals, well if thats the case my number is 07843 177906, available most Fridays & Saturdays except 3rd Saturday of the month, should i expect the phone to be ringing of the hook?
  21. maybe thats because a lot of us find it interesting, others funny and still others have a morbid curiosity, clearly it has touched a nerve, has the original poster been back on since the start? cause it his fault, haha

Imho Dianna Ross is totally overrated and has never made a decent record, made records yeah, some stuff with the Supremes was ok and aimed at the pop market. but other motown females were far more talented and over looked.
  23. Was at an allnighter this weekend where apart from so called Digitised/remastered whatevers, this particular dj also played the re-issue Girl across the Street. the one on the b side to Try My Love, to some it may not matter to others it does. I'm not against the occasional boot but I do expect highly paid so called top djs to play originals, especially when they have so called'reputatons'.
  24. We won`t be there on Sunday: pity! Still I reckon we are on for a good time. Thanks for your input
