Incredible record imho , so hard to turn up records of this quality these days. It’s an exspensive record now, wonder what the flip was like , if anyone knows kindly post a clip up. Oh lordey Brilliant !!!

Great read this nowt new but the scene is pretty dominated by DJs playing same stuff on repeat and playing same venues buying flavour of the month hot box specials . There is no upfront scene now apart from one or two last outposts where figures compared to say 10 to 15 years ago are very poor. Smaller collectors clubs are more common now it’s a backlash to venues playing and paying Mates rates . Many DJs would amputate their left nut to DJ these days at bigger venues that’s one of the reasons records are not been discovered . Playing safe is the devils brew ,it stifles creativity which saddens me because the British Rare Soul Scene was once the envy of every other country. I hope one day a real rare soul venue up north appears again in the vein of the Wilton where collect tors play and encourage each other sadly we had that and lost it due to cynicism and again poor attendances . The sweet scene now delivers obscure unknown and underplayed soul but because it has zero dance appeal it’s over looked and good dos are few and far between .

Would of been the Orwell for me pal but after getting the virus last year and seeing on Facebook the amount that have picked it up again (yep) I’m keeping myself in doors as the weather bites etc . Five years is some time away Mal be interesting to get your thoughts if you get out again . Still plenty of quality about but I know for a fact the numbers are down on most so called up front dos or should I say events with progressive music policy . Its great that the Haydock Park event has sold out and rightly so imho !

There’s congestion on congestion and folks still not venturing out , leaving a barrage of venues with terrible numbers not to mention mediocre music policy ? It has not been a scene for a very long time imho.

Loved the place, right up there with the best venues ever imho. You could always come back with a long list of wants every time you went . It was ran by proper soul people who cared and gave collectors there dues also . How many venues can you say that about now? Back in the day everyone wanted to play there, it was a hard dance floor to master but that summed it up for me, people would talk about the music more than dance at times . Someone said it gave collectors a chance to DJ with big names NAH it gave DJs the chance to play with Big Collectors, Nuff Said !
